Forums - Sony - PS4 1TB Version Will Be The Focus Going Forward

How has the local market taken the 1TB models of the PS4? Have they been selling well?

Well it is all about what is on offer. The Metal Gear Solid V bundle was an exclusive PS4 bundle and it sold very well due to its price and specials we ran on it, and it was still a 500GB. Consumers are looking for value, and even if it’s a 500Gb model. But going forward the focus will be shifted away from the 500GB model and we will offer better value bundles in the 1TB model. We have some 1TB bundles planned for the rest of the year going into 2016. We will be focusing all our attention on the 1TB going forward.

One day I will have one, and it will be oh so glorious.

That being said; 1TB models are definitely necessary. It has become common for a game to have a 10GB patch, which adds up if there are multiple patches across multiple games. That and if you are going to download titles as well - you will need to eventually upgrade to an external hard drive if you are a serious gamer with the 500GB model.

1TB still is to low should have been 2TB from the start all people are doing is buying extra HD's or deleting games.

This isn't about the NA market, but EU and a few others, where there has been no price cut. Wonder if there won't be one and they'll simply sell 1TB models at 399.99€

This is a good news!

I've been told that the PS4 downloads physical games from the disc as well, therefore it doesn't even matter if you get physical games if you want to save on memory. I don't have enough games yet to test it out myself, but I wonder if that's true...

All games install on the HDD. The advantage of using the PS4 is that you don't have to wait for the game to fully install before you can play it, so deleting a game to make space for another isn't that much of an issue.

Both consoles install physical games on the HDD. Installation doesn't take long and both consoles allow you to play before installation is complete, so the only downside is the space eaten up on your HDD. Which is a big downside. It sucks juggling games around. Both companies should have went with something much larger. Hell I think Call of Duty 2014 is almost 90GB. I don't even wanna look at my Witcher 3 size.

So no external hard drive support anytime soon? :(
