Forums - Gaming - Did you play Undertale ?

Played the first couple hours of it, so far, it's incredinly quirky, but as a fan of EarthBound, that's what I love about these sorta games.

I like the artstyle of this game, I love the combat system, and I gotta say, those dogs are cute. =3

I will (try to) post my final thoughts when I beat this game.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

If it stays on PC I may never play it or get around to it in a few years.

If it comes to Vita or PS4 odds of me playing it would go up considerably.

Imagine that for the thousands of games still waiting on PC that have never come to Vita/4.

It's also really dirt cheap and doesn't require some imaginary super computer.

If it never comes to PS4/Vita then I guess you're missing on a really neat gem of a game.

OT: Personally it's not my jam, I love the style it's presented in and the music and story are really nice and heart warming but the mechanics in general put me off and aren't really what I seek from a game these days.

That doesn't stop me from loving what the fanbase produces though:

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

I said may and it comes down to not having a PC right now for games as mine crapped out last year and can't really play on work computer.

I keep hearing this, "Undertale is a unique RPG for one good reason : It's a RPG when you actually can hurt no ennemis in the whole game. Yep, that's right. You have the choice of killing or sparing every ennemy you encounter. Maybe that monster attacked you because he had some personal problems in his marriage, or maybe because he's looking for money to feed his family. Or because he's a serial-killer thirsty of blood, who knows ? Well, you can know, by asking the ennemy instead of directly attacking him. Your choice." but that's really nothing new. Shin Megami Tensei games have had this forever now

It's not that you HAVE the choice that's unique, it's what the game does with it in terms of narrative and structure. On the typical path, you hardly do any random encounters at all and you can avoid them anyway.

People write about the wrong things when attempting to sell this game to people.

I'm pretty sure it would fail certification for breaking the technical rules for PS4 games.

I started with it and got bored and have not yet started it again. Probably gonna play some more this weekend. So far I can only imagine that the great ratings come from a massive twist at the end.

Not really. There are of course some twists, and they are definitely interesting, but that's not the main reason of why the game's so appealing.

And, I understand graphics can block some people, but, come on, graphics shouldn't be your first reason to play a video game.

I agree but these graphics are just awful

What's so different about the tech, as compared to say, Retro City Rampage?

The way it uses save files, specifically for a certain ending.
