So, whenever my friends/family want to watch a scary movie I'm never scared. Everyone else is tense or they get scared by some stupid monster that just "appears". I just don't find them scary at all. Is there something wrong with me? Name me some scary movies that might scare me but be warned, I probably won't be scared.

Don't know if it was said before, but try watching Alien or Aliens if you haven't already.  The original Alien is the only truly scary monster movie I can think of.  It's slow but that's kind of the idea as it builds.  aliens isn't as scary per say, but the monster designs in some of the scenes is pretty chilling to look at.

If Alien or Alien Edit: AlienS (damn plurality) doesn't put a chill in you, then monster movies will never scare you...or imo horror movies in general.

Haven't watched those before, I'll give them a try. I'm pretty sure they won't scare me but here's to hoping!  Oh, wait...you say the monster designs are chilling? Well, that's what my friend tries to tell me but I still don't get "chilled".  Something that has psycologically freaked me out was this image:

Things like this always freak me out. There was also this documentary or whatever about these guys who went deep into the ocean and found like a mermaid or something and it actuatlly hit their submarine and let out a chilling scream. You could see the fin like projections and everything. That kind of stuff, that's actually on Earth, or might be on Earth is what scares me.

me too, never been scared by monsters or killers scary movies...

only scared by some ghost scene, but not watching it at theater with so many people, need to create atmosphere in purpose like watching it at home alone at night with all lights off and big screen surround sound system...

To be fair, it has a lot to do with whether the movie plays to your imagination or not.
Like how I consider environment to be scarier than jump scares.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

If you haven't already, watch Insidious(the 1st one). I haven't been scared of scary movies since I was little, but that movie put some fear into me when I watched it.

I dont get scare either, however I do enjoy having to guess who is the killer or in the case of the movie 'the devil' who is the devil.

I wish it was that easy. I've seen some pretty horrid things in my short life. I guess those memories override everything else. But the strange thing is, the only piece of media that has truly scared me (at 10 years of age) was the Re-Deads in Zelda: Wind Waker. I turned the game off and everything when I saw them. Even started a whole new file just to avoid seeing them. I'm helpless. XD

I think you are simply breaking your suspension of disbelief. Probably you are thinking like: "these characters are dumb, its so unrealistic", "this is all fake","this is about the time when some scare atempts pop up" "will this even scare me?". The answer is, no. No movie can scare you unless you allow it to, because you know its inherently fake.

People can feel scared when they don't delve into these thought and try to connect to the characters. This obviosly can be made easier with the means to make your emersion easier (dark, not warm room, big screen, silence from exterior sources, surround sound).

If none of this is the case... then i guess you simply find other things scarier.

I'm not scared of scary things. Not Resident Evil. Though I want the original style of the games to be used, regardless if it actually scares me or not. I watch the Halloween movies in marathons. At all kinds of time. Never bothered me. Saw, Nightmare, any doctor show, real life stuff, nothing. I fucking love the Alien films. I have a high tolerance towards this stuff. Weather it's fake or not.

This is my exact mindset. I just think it's stupid because it's fake. I hate to be that way because it makes me seem weird. If it isn't within the Earth's tangibility then it won't scare me.

Horror movies are my favorite genre, I never get scared of them though. I like them for the mystery and thrill.
