Or he doesn't know anything and just thinks it's confirmed. Why would her casting announcement be embargoed? There is no reason at all for press / gaming websites to be told of the casting ahead of an official announcement.

I hope it isn't Maise Williams, because as much as I like her as Arya Stark she is no where near as good an actor as Ashley Johnson, which means her portrayal of Ellie will be inferior to the game's Ellie. Ashley did such a fantastic job of Ellie that it is going to be extremely hard for any teenage actor to do the role justice.

But not a lot of other young and known actresses available right now... And Maisie William has that "rebel" reputation with Arya. 

But, did anyone see the "The 5th wave" trailer, with Chloe Moretz? The first scene (in a gas station IIRC), really looks like a TLOU/Ellie scene IMO (same outfit, scenery and behavior for example). 

Funny you should mention her, because she is a much better actor than Maisie IMO, and I would much prefer she play the part. her and maisie are pretty much the same age, only Maisie seems to look younger so she would be a more convincing 14-year old. But I'd rather have the best quality actor than the most convincing-looking 14 year old. By the time they actually start filming (it seems) they will both be 20 and perhaps there will be an actual 14-16 year old girl who is a class act who would be better for the role.

I'm rather worried that the writing seems to be proceeding very slowly, given they have 90% of what they need in a movie script in the game script itself. I have a feeling this movie will never be made because they won't be able to get the screenplay to feel right. And I really would rather they drop the project than make yet another crappy video game adaptation.
