Forums - General - How do you deal with an unexpected death?

I think its bets to use some time to mourn and reflect upon what has happened, and then move on thinking how lucky you are to be alive!
I've felt this vitality sometimes when people close to me die, like some lifeforce is passed on to the living upon someones departure, I think that's a nice thought anyway.
Don't distance yourself from such things, it'll only come back stronger, these things are best handled right away and properly.
If there is a memorial service or something similar, use that time, walk among those who knew him the best and just learn a little of what he left behind, it could put things in perspective and alleviate some of the shock!

I couldn't possibly fathom what that must feel, like, Dolla. When I was in elementary school, we had a teacher suddenly have a heart attack and die in the classroom. Screamed, fell and hit her head on the desk behind mine, and died.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

@thekitchensink: Wow, that must've been a really tough thing to witness!
That's the kinda thing that sticks with you.
My favourite teacher who had been teaching us for over 5 years hung herself when she found out she could not have babies.
She'd told her husband a few days before that she really loved kids because of her work and wanted her own more than life itself.
That really stung to hear after she died and I still miss that benevolent woman! She was a truly good person.

I only wish some people I know would die suddenly like that. God they annoy me. :/

I really don't care when people die. I'm sure if someone I was really closed to died, it might upset me a little, but not for very long. I didn't care when my Grandfather died, though I do miss him from time to time. He was crazy hilarious. :D

Never happened to me..... yet but i am sure if i did i would try to get out with my friends cuz they make me laugh and laughter is the best cure!!! =)

I'm feeling better. The initial shock has worn off.

Thanks, guys.
