Stole this from Ryng on Gaf. I think this is a good sign that SMM has a good possibility of becoming a 1m+ seller in Japan, seeing as though Splatoon has that in the bag. Obviously it won't be quite as leggy as Splatoon, but I think it will end up in the MK8 range when everything is said and done. Which would be quite a good result.

Amazing, and I thought SMM had a chance to underperform in japan... very glad to see my fears were totally wrong.

I always knew it was going to perform well. The quick, snappy nature of the game appeals to the Japanese a lot (much like Splatoon). Plus, the level creation aspect attracts younger audiences while the nostalgia aspect attracts older audiences, so as opposed to other titles in the genre, the target audience is quite large.

Plus I suspect the game will be the standard bundle in Japan for at least the next year, so there's that. 1m is a very real possibility.

There is something about it that made me think it could not appeal as much to Japanese people while being a massive success on NA, don´t know why, bad intuition this time. However with Splatoon I was sure it was going to be an inmense success there since the very first time I saw it on the E3 despite the whole internet trying to convince me that it was going to be a fail xD.

I really hope it reachs 1m, this game has already become almost a daily ritual for me just like Splatoon did, I wish all the success it can get.

It was definitely the opposite for me. I knew Splatoon wouldn't be a huge flop, but I was expecting more modest Pikmin-like sales. Didn't even think it would be that big until it started beasting on COMG. I still tend to underestimate it though, as opposed to Super Mario Maker, which I feel like I can overestimate at times.

And yeah, it's definitely become a daily ritual alongside Splatoon for me. Clocked in about 75 hours so far in less than a month. Don't know if it will ever surpass Splatoon, but I think it's very impressive so far.

Wow, SMM is performing better than I realized. But how is Splatoon vs MK8 going at the moment?

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

haha probably the last time ever the Wii U will sell 4 times that of the PS4. Bet anyone?

Playing Xenoblade 2 before I buy Xenoblade 3 (otherwise I couldn't wait to play 3).

Can they announce a new Fire Emblem? A remake of Genealogy or Tellius would suffice !

First NintendoEverything, and now multiplayer.it?

You've hit the big time, Ryng!
