Just for information (not a critic or anything ^^), it has been done before by Sony in France for PS3 games like God of War. Not sure if that was really useful though...

Nah, it's football here and in about half a dozen countries around the world.  In the same countries, your "footy" is called by its original name of soccer, which was coined by your limey ancestors in order to differentiate itself from the other football of the day, aka "rugby," which along with its Australian rules cousin were established before the English Football Association was, and both are more "handegg" than American football is.
