Forums - Nintendo - Super Paper Mario

Great game, got and beat it early on in my Wii life. It was just as good as TTYD if not better. The dialogue as mentioned earlier was priceless. I remember sitting in the den playing and then laughing out loud and my wife wandering what was going on.

Gotta disagree, I was REALLY hyped for this game (even more then for Mario Galaxy!), but SPM disappointed me BIG TIME. Didn't even finish it, I stopped after two thirds or so.

- the structure is much too predictable
- the text is not really funny, but there's a lot of it
- many levels are nothing but tedious
- it controls like a flash game, without that trademark Mario platforming physics

I hope they release Mario RPG on VC soon, it's still the best and funniest part. I had a lot of fun with Paper Mario 64, but TTYD already became a little tiring - I don't like it when the overall structure of a game is too obvious.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

Gee so many Mario games on Nintendo consoles. I personally can not stand Mario games the music is so lame and the game play is like wow I collect 120 stars and go over many cartoon worlds, big deal.

You don't have a Wii, have no interest in a Wii, have no interest in Mario games...yet you feel compelled to come to the Nintendo forum and hop into a Mario thread. How sad.

On topic: Super Paper Mario is a fun game. I was a bit disappointed in it though. The platforming wasn't that great, but the 2D/3D switching was kinda cool. I do feel it had too much text, but nothing that breaks the game. It has some seriously funny moments and neat ideas. Personally, I hope the next Paper game goes back to being a true rpg.

In fact I have a Nintendo Wii with Wii Sports and Guitar Hero 3 with 2 guitars.

@dark
Wasn't attacking just mentioning that I loved it all around and didn't exactly know what you didn't like as far as design went.

I liked the SPM:TTYD better, but the original is very good and I am pretty sure you will enjoy it... buy it without hesitation

Not liking Mario games is the same as not liking games with explosions. "Mario Games" is just as much a genre as "Games With Explosions" is.

Thanks guys. I'll be picking it up in the next couple of weeks.

Nooooo!... Lol, it's a good game i guess... Just haven't played it yet (as you can see in my other post)...

But TTYD was still better ^^...

Try playing the game past the intro before talking crap about it.

And yes, Super Paper Mario is a wonderful purchase.  Just because it isn't as good as Thousand Year Door doesn't mean it's a bad game.  The game is just plain fun and the writing is brilliant.

Then don't come to this topic if you really have nothing to contribute. :|

Anyways back on topic, yes SPM is worth getting. It's very fun, but my only gripe is how I sometimes find myself stuck to the point I have to use a FAQ.
