Forums - Sony - ND: Uncharted Golden Abyss not in The Nathan Drake Collection for narrative reasons

- Arne Meyer community strategist Arne Meyer for Naughty Dog said during EGX about the idea of Golden Abyss in The Nathan Drake Collection:

"[was] definitely under consideration because we were trying to see how we could collect all of the Uncharted games."

"But when we went back and looked at what we were trying to do with the Nathan Drake Collection, we realised that those three games – the trilogy – actually provided a particular narrative arc that led into Uncharted 4. We wanted to keep that as a holistic collection for that reason, and Golden Abyss kind of lives a little bit outside of that."

- Golden Abyss was not developed by Nuaghty Dog, instead by Syphon Filer's studio Sony Bend

Would you rather have Golden Abyss in the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Thanks for the heads up Arne Meyer. Now anyone who still hasn't played Golden Abyss won't bother to buy it because it "doesn't follow the narrative."

Better decision. This game needs to stay PS Vita exlusive.

I liked Golden Abyss better than the first one in the series. Also what narrative doesn't Golden Abyss follow? It's always about some ancient treasure or city that has never been unearthed because it has some evil about it that's caused death to everyone who's found it, always sealed away at the end of the game somehow in hopes that no one else will find it. They just don't want to pay for the effort into not only porting it but to implement the touch controls over to the pad and get the same $60 they'd get with the collection when they could port it buy itself and get $50 for that game alone.

Although this also.  If it stays Vita exclusive then I don't mind it not receiving a port.  Every single day I wake up to find out one of the Vita games I own is now a multiconsole title.  Next month I wonder if I'll own any Vita games that aren't available on PS4.

GA was a good game but it would cost a lot to make that game not visually look like shit on a big screen TV and to remove all of the touch focused content. just not worth the effort imo.
