It may well be nostalgia, but I still feel that mgs is still the best in the series. Solid is the best snake, Liquid the best villain and, perhaps because of the systems limitations, it has the most subdued story unhindered by Kojima's otherwise asinine writing.

I still didnt finished it, i am in the last chapter , mission 35 or something, 65 % only.

Some voices are fucked up, big boss feels like reading a script yes and code talker sound weird as fuck, boss battles are not on pair with last games too. They needed to show more of skull face i thing. But all the rest is 5 stars IMO. Best game of this generation so far for me.

I like how they show and explain some past characters, and i love to seee characters  that appear in mgs.

Metal gear solid 1 still is the best, best story, best characters and had great gameplay for the time. Its my second best game of all time.

SO TRUE, im currently in chapter 2 of the game and im enjoying it a LOT, yes i do have some Nitpicks here and there, but they are just that... NITPICKS nothing else, im yet to get to the point in the game that would actually make me hate it... and so far i havent gotten there, and hopefully i wont... and people are just hating on it because they are just repeating the hate cycle.

About the cutscenes i always liked them and they were never a detractor to my fun with the games, because i love the lore and story of MGS so more cutscenes = more lore and story for me to enjoy, and i always liked that... and the lack of them in MGSV (compared to the previous games) is actually one of my nitpicks, i just wish there was more story in the game... but oh well im just starting chapter 2 so theres still time for more.

I havent played 5 yet, but as for gameplay MGS4 is the best. And the best overall, even with the best story, definitly is MGS3. That game would be huge with the controls of MGS4 and a remaster.

After typing my original comment (in which i said MGS3 was the best) i sat down and thought about the strong parts in both MGS 1 and 3 and how good of a game they were at their respective times and i came to the same conclusion, i cant pick one above the other... they are both so GOOD and if any of them is better than the other its by such a SMALL margin that they rather just be in a tie.

So yeah MGS 1 and MGS 3 for best MGS games.

Hard pick. I enjoyed MGS V just as much as MGS4 was and as much as I did enjoy Snake Eater. So with the advantage of higher polygon counts and model design, MGS V wins.

I love MGS 3 because of the perfect balance of gameplay and story, but I have to put MGS 1 as runner-up not only for the story and gameplay, but how it veered the industry due to it.
