No. I do care about the quality of voice acting a bit, but it would take some truly terrible voice acting for voice acting to affect my buying habits. That is, in practice it doesn't affect at all.

Kiefer Sutherland in MGSV pretty much, cause I wasn't going to stand for another Hackter-voiced entry in the series.

Pretty much the voice of Kaine in Nier.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It's certainly a HUGE reason it's so hard to get through Xenosaga Episode 2.

Tell me that just the first 20 minutes doesn't make you cringe a few times.

no. but if troy baker or nolan north are acting in a video game, it can get me more hyped for it. those two guys are simply fantastic.

Only once.

I bought the game Hunted: Demon's Forge, because of Lucy Lawless (XENA)

On the other hand, I was stoked for Life is Strange, until I got fed up with the terrible voice acting of Max (the protagonist). While I get that she's supposed to be awkward, an introvert and stuff, the voice actress' delivery is horrendous. Especially when she needs to act surprised. Don't see myself buying it any time soon, though the game seems awesome (my favourite genre).

Forgot about Anna Torv (Fringe). She voiced Nariko in Heavenly Sword and she's to this day, my favourite voice actress. I'd pretty much buy any game she starred in.

The only time it might impact my purchase is if it's a JRPG without dual audio. Western games seem a bit different, but it seems like there's such a small community of voice actors in the West that do Japanese games. Some people might like hearing Johnny Yong Bosch or Steve Blum in everything, but it just makes me cringe. It just ruins the immersion for me to hear the same voice over and over again.

Tales of Xillia was mentioned in the OP, that's a recent example where lack of lack of Japanese audio really disappointed me. Milla and the little girl (can't remember her name-haven't played it in a while) just sounded really awkward to me. There were some decent voices, but overall my opinion on the English voice cast hasn't been very positive.

In an effort to keep me from sounding like a grumpy old man, I will say that I don't hate all JRPG dubs. I generally find Atlus games to have decent to good voiceovers. I liked Fire Emblem: Awakening's English cast, even if Chrom's original seiyu is better (anime fans might recognize him as Gintoki or Joseph Joestar, and I believe he'll be in Persona 5 too). Overall though, I just find that one awkward voice is all it takes to ruin the immersion for me, so having that happen in a heavy story-based game tends to color my opinion of the game as a whole.

Never. It's usually story, gameplay and sometimes graphics that do (not in that specific order).

Yes, the horrible voice acting in the House of the Dead games made them a must buy for me.
