Forums - Nintendo - Is a 100 dollar price drop realistic for the Wii U this year?

A 100$ pricedrop will only come after the NX is announced.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Hmmm... I think $100 is too far off, making them only break even; $50 is not far enough but they'd make profit. I think $60-$80 price-cut is where they should go. It's low enough and they should make a profit for each console sold, or at least from what I know they should!

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Everytime someone starts talking about a pricedrop for the Wii U I remember that a new Wii U is still like 300 bucks, or so (?). For a system that launched at $350 in 2012 that seems crazy and what it tells me is that Nintendo is just going to ride this one out and not have price cuts in an attempt to increase the systems userbase at this point.

No, this year in best case $50, but I am not sure if Wii U will have price at all this year.

No even if it gets a price drop it will not help

50$ is more likely and still I don't know why but I don't think Nintendo will cut the Wii U's price :/

Depends on the size. Too small and it will only give it a small boost. 100 dollars could be a long term boost.

100 dollars and a pack in could help

Doubt it will happen

I grew up on Nintendo price cuts. It used to be a regular thing back in the day, but now I truly could not say it would happen this year either. But they need it and it needs to be profound! Especially with the game delays this year.

Well they never had such a bad sales like with Wii U.

Nintendo with Wii U clearly decided to have profit on every sold console than go for bigger instal base with price cut  because in this point that really wouldn't change anything. $50 price cut is possible, but $100 price cut would certainly make them lose on every sold console, so that isnt option.

I say chances are 65% for $50 price cut this year and 10% chances for $100 price cut this year.

It is that gamepad! I love it, but it holds it back.

It doesn't matter, if the components for the console itself get lower prices the component for the Gamepad do aswell, it's not like it's 100% pure gold
