Forums - Nintendo - How likely is in your opinion a Zelda U port on the next Nintendo home console ?

F**k Nintendo if they release Zelda U on the NX. I can't believe how many people are fine with having bought a console that Nintendo considers to be a piece of sh*t. Not releasing an exclusive Zelda on a Nintendo console is just like not releasing a Mario: UNACCEPTABLE. Promising support for the Wii U and then not release an exclusive Zelda on it, which after 30 years of releasing a Zelda game on EVERY single console you release is pretty much REQUIRED from them, is a SCAM, plain and simple. Next time they have a console that bombs they are just not going to even bother with a Mario - because if Zelda skipped a console why not Mario? - and people will be happy playing some low-budget indie title or Star Fox Zero 2 instead, I'm absolutely sure of it.

Nintendo is doing a good financial decision with this. The problem is not the bussiness department, but the Zelda team. They are the ones that took a lot of time to develop a game and wasted time with other minor ones that nobody asked for. If they've focused on this game and worked hard we could have got at 2014 or 2015, but they were lazy and stubborn believing the userbase will be happy with TWWHD and Triforce Heroes rather than a new one. Now that the next hardware is ready to launch and this game has more money and time invested is only logic to try to recoup all of it porting to a new hardware.

Likely, though pretty stupid if you ask me. It's gonna piss some people off, and there are games that would make a lot more than a Zelda game they could release as a multigen title. As I replied to someone else, a true 3D Mario game would be much more lucrative and far easier to make for two systems.

The next 3D Mario game has already been "announced" for the NX. Zelda on the other hand has confirmed its appearence on the Wii U, and it was promised for the console, a new 3D Mario not.

I'd say right now I'm 90% sure.

Mainly because the only good reason not to do it is out of respect for the WiiU owners, but let's face it, Nintendo knows that fanboys will eat everything they give them. An frankly, they already did it with TP and got away with it easily.

With TP the Gamecube already had a Zelda title... the Wii U only got a port and a spinoff that is even getting ported to the 3DS (and with more content than the Wii U version).

But yes, I think Nintendo will s*it on Wii U owners. Just look at this forum.

The context was different, but I don't think that change anything, Nintendo has way too many good reasons to port the game on NX.

Even if it's not really nice for WiiU owners, most of them will buy an NX.

The chances are higher than i want them to be

I don't think it's the fault of the Zelda team that they did a massive open world game rather than a smaller game that could be made in a smaller timeframe. I think those calls are made at the very top, probably by the idiots who thought the Wii U would do well saleswise.

I never said it wasn't a good financial decision. I just don't think it's an excuse.

Very unlikely.

People who compare it to Twilight Princess are forgetting that the Gamecube and Wii had pretty much the same hardware, just overclocked by about 50%, so porting was almost just copy-pasting, mirroring the game world and changing the controller settings. Not gonna be possible with Wii U and NX, as the hardware (especially the CPU and with it the instruction sets) will be necessarly vastly different between the 2.

I doubt porting the game to whatever the NX uses is a challenge for Nintendo.

Well it appears like you quoted me. Anyway, Zelda has been a disaster this gen.

Does Monolith Soft involved with ZeldaU development? (I remember they was with SS on Wii).

the gamecube has no exclusiv mainline zelda... ww was on the wiiu too and tp was on the wii.(and we dont have a exclusive zelda on the n64 anymore, and its awesome.

and what is fuckn wrong in your head? i love zelda, and i want more people to play it because i want more people to feel the joy i feel when i play zelda.  so im totaly happy when older zelda games come to newer nintendo consoles.

the only problem i could see with a early zelda u release on the nx is that they may switch the focus to the nx, that would suck, but i doubt they will do that.
