The Wii U uses flash memory which is extremely efficient and reliable. There's a much better chance that you'll still be able to play Wii U games than PS4 games in twenty or thirty years.

I think it's funny that the Thread Title assumes that people don't complain about the PS4 HDD size but I have seen plenty of threads and comments to the contrary
I only buy physical unless it's an indie so i don't care.
However... i will never understand people who need more than 500gb.... have you guys tried... i don't know.... maybe.... uhh... DELETE THE GAMES YOU ALREADY FINISHED?
Seriously what's the point in having that 45gb single player game forever and ever installed? You are never going to play it again stop lying to yourself.
Lol

100% agree. When I learned about it I was befuddled and figured since both PS4 and XB1 did it no one complained, much like everyone stopped bringing up backwards compatibility until Phil brought it back up. I think most, not all who hate the Wii U data storage don't even know it doesn't need to install the full game or need an specific hdd type rather than any data storage like you mentioned.
The real kicker is that most will demand physical copies of games anyway

It's like dumping a girl right after having sex with her.
Some of us like to have a long term relationship with our games.

Vodacixi makes a fair point. Yes, 32GB is obviously smaller than 500GB, but the fact remains that all three 8th gen consoles have insufficient storage space. So-called AAA games are getting bigger and bigger. That fact, combined with mandatory installs that take up huge amounts of real estate, makes 500GB a lot less impressive than it sounds.
I'm having storage issues with my Wii U, my PS4, and my Xbox One. I'm sure many other consumers are having similar problems.

THANK YOU. Really, this is exactly what I wanted to say. All three consoles (including Wii U) have storage issues, yet Wii U gets more hate than the others (and just to clarify, PS4 and One also get hate, but NOT as much as the Wii U).

Thanks for sharing! I guess none of this really matters then because we can swap the PS4 hard drive with a solid state drive and use a solid state external on the Wii U.
