I'll explain it in one word: Minecraft

Yes building blocks wise. But once you've defeated the ender dragon there isn't much more value to continue playing, you're not rewarded for what you build, you're left to make your own fun.

Dragon quest builders isn't a block builder with rpg elements, it's a rpg with block building elements. It seems like it will have that longetivity in gameplay that mc doesn't have

Um, please don't talk about the longetivity of gameplay minecraft, because you have no idea how many hours people have put in.  You also know minecraft is easily malleable as well, so if you thinking breadth of features or "narrative" experience. You can get that with Minecraft (PC Version at least has so many different things you can add to it). Minecraft is a beast, and no Lego Worlds or this can replicate its success. Now if only the dev team can make the damn API.

I'm also ignoring the "Community" aspect of it completely, which is at its heart the strongest thing.

I didn't say Minecraft lacked longetivity. And I was purely talking about the game as is sold rather than mods, but I agree, mods add a whole new game to it.

Let's talk about the console versions. Once the challenges are done, once you've killed the dragon, the fun you get in the rest of the game is the fun you make yourself, going down caves, building structures, messing about online. There isn't really an objective or much to accomplish beyond that point.

What youtubers play minecrafts main mode now? Hardly any, and if they do, it's just about continuing to gather supplies to expand their house or structure, there isn't a set goal to do. All i'm saying is Dragon Quest B seems to be the difference there, whereby like most RPG's, you'll be doing missions, leveling up, getting better equipment. Something that minecrafts main game cannot replicate half of if true.

Minecraft put through a dung filter
Seems alright. I want Heroes 1 and 2 a lot more though.
