I'll explain it in one word: Minecraft

Yes building blocks wise. But once you've defeated the ender dragon there isn't much more value to continue playing, you're not rewarded for what you build, you're left to make your own fun.

Dragon quest builders isn't a block builder with rpg elements, it's a rpg with block building elements. It seems like it will have that longetivity in gameplay that mc doesn't have

Um, please don't talk about the longetivity of gameplay minecraft, because you have no idea how many hours people have put in.  You also know minecraft is easily malleable as well, so if you thinking breadth of features or "narrative" experience. You can get that with Minecraft (PC Version at least has so many different things you can add to it). Minecraft is a beast, and no Lego Worlds or this can replicate its success. Now if only the dev team can make the damn API.

I'm also ignoring the "Community" aspect of it completely, which is at its heart the strongest thing.
