I decided to stop playing the game. Not even worth a full review. It blows my mind how a game this horrendously paced and this boringly repetitive could have possibly gotten the scores it's gotten. It reminds me a lot of my opinions of Destiny, only this game actually runs well. I've never tried to like a game and give it the benefit of the doubt more than this one. 20 hours of play time. Can't do it anymore. Don't know how anyone else did.

It isn't anywhere near one of the best games this generation. Maybe I was spoiled by the phenomenal MGS3, but I wouldn't even give THAT a 9/10. And that was actually great. I can't believe that I actually started MGSV fearing that it would have too many cutscenes.

I'm not done with the series, but it will definitely be a while before I am motivated enough to finally pick up Peace Walker, which from all the things I've seen are what this game should have been. Such a disappointing mess.

Phantom Pain couldn't be a more fitting title. I'm left with a phantom pain from things that aren't there.

I just can't get over the ending, having beaten the game just two hours ago. Seriously, I have the strong feeling that the game should have either concluded on the first act, with the "revenge" thingy and Huey screaming like an idiot after killing Zero, or just plain and simple do something different. The way it is, the massive retcon and all that, it just makes me feel like the plot was the most unnecesary thing ever. There's Zero explanations here, Liquid running around with the most powerful Metal Gear ever conceived, Kaz spitting Big Boss EXCLUSIVELY because he didn't told him his plan, not because he realized he's a killer, Ocelot just...uh, being around, and a second Big Boss that creates a second Outer Heaven but that gets destroyed and no one ever brings that up again.

Spoiler :

If you listen the tapes, there is the most ridiculous justification ever for Ocelot, when he speaks to Miller , he says he will train a clone to kill him, then Miller says he will train the other clone to kill him, this is so stupid and ridiculous when you hear it

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I heared that tape, that was hilarious.

and not just accept it for what it is, a damn good game.

The game is amazing, but the second half of the game feels tacked on and the ending is a monstruosity. A chimera missing one of its heads, that subverts the original game of the franchise and adds an innecessary and unexplained layer of confusion on every single character's motivation thus far.

That's also the post-credit conversation. :P

I haven't finished the game still. Put 70 hours already and looking into the 40s missions. I find it to be a great game, with endless possibilities. Its a bit repetitive, but when you get the hang on the transport system, it becomes pure fun. I have finished missions in so many different ways, tackled problems in so many different ways. The Side ops are excellent for this.

Regarding the story it is what I expected. The story was finished on MGS 4, there shouldn't even be any twists or surprises. You can read on the Piggyback official guide, that Kojima wanted to create the perfect sandbox stealth game, and he did it. It is damn perfect. The story is irrelevant. There are some nice details, it goes on well, the tapes are necessary because the game's missions take so much time that putting story in those parts is welcomed.

I am 25 years old now, I don't have patience for the anime bullshit that the other MGSs were, except MGS 3. Funny enough, I found MGS 3 at the time to be so lacking in story because it really didn't have the twists and turns of the other games. But now looking at it, it has better storytelling of the first 4. I grew up and I expect games I played 15 years ago to grow up as well. I don't know what people expected of this game, but anyone that grew with these games can't say that MGS had great story telling and narrative. MGS V has great story telling and narrative. It says what it needs to be said, and holds info for those who care to listen.

I know I won't be dissapointed by the true ending or anything because I don't really care for it. Big Boss is Big Boss, Gray Fox, Liquid Snake, Solid Snake, Miller, Ocelot, The Patriots, Zero, we all know who they are and what they did. What matters is that we have an amazing game, gameplay wise, and aren't games about fun, addictive gameplay?

I hope you enjoy the ending, I really really do. But judging your whole post, without pointing at anything in particular that might give away a spoiler, I think you're in for a surprise. Not the good kind of surprise, mind you.

I quit the game for the time being, way too boring. I'll go back to it though eventually because i dont like leaving games unfinished

Did a slight edit to your post. I was getting a few complaints over you not putting spoiler text on your reply. Please try to remember for future reference!
