Would have been nice if they removed the leveling up system so it kept the Souls gameplay but it was more skill based with multiple difficulties. Like an Onimusha game or Nightmare Creatures. Would have had me so much more interested. As it is, I'm still interested in getting this day one, even if it just is Ancient China Souls.

Onimusha 4 had rpg elements and it was still skill oriented.

Do you mean Onimusha 3?  Onimusha had elements like Devil May Cry where you leveled up your weapons and armor.  That's fine and it keeps the game more balanced so long as you kill everything you pass.  Bloodborne, you can go through the game without leveling up your souls, but you'll be underpowered unless you either memorize where all the crystal lizard type enemies are at and blood stones or thorougly search every single area, even though you're underpowered with a no soul level up run anyways as it's a challenge run.

*edit*

Actually didn't know a fourth one existed on the PS2.  I just knew of the first three PS2 games and the GBA game.  Looked up them up and saw the fourth one came out at/near the very end of the generation.  If it's different from the other games then I mean just the first three games.

This doesn't look like a Koei game....

This game looks great! I can't wait.

Dawn of Dreams

Less horror, more anime-like. More RPG elements (leveling up to gain skill points to exchange for techniques and power up those techniques, leveling up armor, etc) and freedom.

The game has various characters you can issue commands to, switch to in battle and they even help you traverse levels as they have the ability to reach areas the main character Soki can't with their special skills.

That explains it. I feel silly now.

Onimusha was NEVER a horror game. The 1st one had very light touches but were abandoned going forward.

First one was a horror game. Atmosphere, atmospheric music, setting, butchered bodies lying around, demons disemboweling humans, the literature in texts.

You may disagree here and the above may not change your mind, just like there is nothing you can say that can change mine. But I say it, Onimuisha was, among other things, a horror game, and steadily distanced itself from horror.

Onimusha WAS a horror game, among other things.

I can't wait, this game looks like a Devil May Cry mixed with Ninja Gaiden and some Souls stuff, plus with Geralt of Rivia as the main character. :P

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

It was indeed. Onimusha 2 is possibly my favorite though, it felt like bigger and even more polished game than the first Onimusha. It didn't have Samanosuke though.

I have a sweet spot for pre-rendered background games... a lost art and forgotten approach to gaming, what a shame.

It was an action game like GOW,which has everything you named as well.Just because th egame had demons and other creatures does not make it a horror game, but horror is a heneral term.
