Forums - Gaming - What's your opinion about Telltale Games?

Back in 2012, I had never heard about Telltale before. Then, I had one of my best experiences in gaming when I decided to play "The Walking Dead: Season One". There were two episodes available. All I had to do was wait for the rest of the season. No problem. I loved it.

Then, came "The Wolf Among Us". Particularly, I'm not a fan of the Fables universe, but I know a lot of people enjoyed it.

Then, came the second season of The Walking Dead... Oh my God, what have them done? They turned the series into a "visual novel" with barely any gameplay, and choices that had little to no impact at all. And what a predictable plot! Lots of people complained about it, but it looks like Telltale haven't heard the negative critics, since they only comented about people that loved it.

Then, came Tales from the Borderlands... And that was when I gave up on Telltale. They released the first episode, and I enjoyed it. And guess what? That was back in November 2014 when they released the 1st episode, and there's still no info on when the 5th and last one is going to be released. The worst part? Their episodes barely hits 2 hour long.

And Telltale... Well, they keep tweeting things like: "we can't wait for you to play this episode!!! It's going to be INTENSE!" or else "OMG! The next episode is going to be awesome, guys!!".

Well... What do you think about Telltale?

Never played any of their games and I'm not interested in doing so either. Did watch lets plays of Tales Of Monkey Island and The Walking Dead though...

I love them but they really need to upgrade their engine in a significant way and I wish they would have done so starting with Game of Thrones. Also they should drop mobile support or at least don't make it hold back the console/PC version. I wish episodic format would go too.

I like them, especially TWD Season 1, but they all feel too similar, IMO.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I prefer their earlier work, when their games were more like classic P&C adventures, though to be honest, they were never really great dev to begin with, so I think they've pretty much found there place with "popular IPs turned visual novels".

My opinion is that the last game they made was Back to the Future, what they have been done since then is interactive TV-shows

Yes, that would be great. I doubt they are going to do that, though.

I loved the wolf among us but I found the rest of their games a bit samey.

Oh and the wait for the last episodes of tales from the borderlands are killing me especially after how much I enjoyed the penultimate episodes of those two series.

The only game I liked from them was The Wolf Among Us, the rest were boring for me.

I like their games very much. Walking Dead season 2 wasn't nearly as good as the first, but TWAU, GoT and Borderlands have been excellent. I actually like their episodic format and release schedule.
