What gamers? dudebros and casuals who are too dumb for Metal Gear? |
What? Either way, there's no blood on our hands. We shouldn't feel compelled to buy a game just to make a company happy. They aren't charity cases.

So you think this news is solely about MGS? If they aren't satisfied with those sales what makes you think they'll try to make a retail SIlent Hill or something? |
KONAMI has decided to no longer pursue games that have budgets like MGS and Pes. Those are the company exceptions. ALL of KONAMI's other IP's - Castlevania, Contra, Bomberman, Yu Gi Oh, Frogger, their arcade catalogue ext, DO NOT need and never had those budgets. AAA is a term related budget size of a games development. It just means when KONAMI puts out console games they will have mid to low tier budgets. That is fine.

Okay, and I can see those games getting small digital releases. Retail games for new consoles are pretty much considered AAA this gen unless it's painfully obvious the budget is small. If they made a new Silent Hill game, they'd probably consider that AAA. I'm willing to bet their retail offerings will be almost abysmal this gen.

Despite all the noise on the internet they do make some very good games and that especially goes to Activision (Blizzard) ...
I can't count to you how many times Konami has fucked over their fans ...
Contra, Castlevania, Zone of the Enders, Suikoden, Silent Hill fans got screwed and soon to be Metal Gear ...
Konami is the epitome of shit no matter how you look at it ...

Cool but that doesn't mean that they can't turn their other franchises into AAA series ...
Plus AAA games were a lot cheaper to make back in the days so some of them can still be qualified as "AAA" ...

Just because you have an opinion does not void you from being wrong or right. There is NOTHING rational about retail games = AAA development, matter of fact no matter how you cut it, budget or quality, thats pretty irrational.

And why is that the fault of us as gamers? As gamers, we vote on what we like with our wallets. If we don't particularly like Konami's offerings, that isn't our fault. If their games don't resonate with our interests, it isn't our fault. It's ultimately their fault for failing to turn out content that was good enough to gather mass market appeal with more than just a name.
We can sing the praises of as many of their releases as we'd like, but in the end, they were never series with large market appeal. That is a problem for Konami as the developer, not for us as gamers.
