I think there was a little company already keeping it alive before the Sony announcement. Cant remember their name atm.

Nintodi or something like that...

Before it? Everyone was there before it the XBO try to wipe it...

Now after it, isn't Nintendo rumored to go full digital with the NX now, though?

Nintendo was the first one to keep the physical releases going into the 8th gen.

Rumored? Yes. They are also probably rumored to be dead in 6 months or that Miyamoto is actually the devil. Rumors...

Still valid. Can anyone here gurantee the servers will stay operational to PS3-PS20 forever. Yes or no. And not be yanked. Which then you have to rebuy it in the fashions I listed on the future console. Because, if you can't download the game. The auth severs are gone on the old consoles. And your HDD dies. That's it. Unless you go the pirate route.

Do one can guarantee anything. But just because a server shut down is possible doesn't mean it's probable, because it isn't. The infrestructure behind digital media is getting stronger, not weaker. All these fears just come from a bygone era where touching something made it real. Can Steam one day just up and shut down? Sure. Will it likely? Of-fucking-course not.

I never knowingly buy used games. Never knowingly have never knowingly will. Same thing with letting people buy a game for me and then I owe them later. If its not completely mine from purchase, I don't handle it. I hate Gamestop btw

With that said, I support used games for multiple reasons. The main reason though is because the alternative gives consumers too little control

Yes, rumors, but Nintendo did filled a console patent with no optical disc drive, it may be due to cartdriges, yes it may, but it may also mean going full digital, so it actually has some base to stand.

Nintendo, Sony and MS file patents for all kinds of shit. Much of it never sees the light of day.

that has been my main point and focus during the whole thread.

Shoud all physical media disapear for video games I could see a new market place forming for people to buy and sell acounts

All video games disappeared from PC gaming and that didn't happen. Don't see it happening when consoles go all digital either.

while there are fewer games that have a physical pc release they are far from gone and still plenty of used pc games out there

Of releases after 2006? No, there aren't "plenty."

what big games can't you get physical games for? minecraft?

looking at the long list of games on amazon I can buy used games for I define that as plenty. and much more than the none implied by your "all physical pc games disapeared"

I don't feel anything about used games or anything gaming related. I think that the used market is good for everyone because it gives devs and pubs more incentive to make their games better. Gaming companies make more money in the long run this way than the other way. Here's why I think that and personally it allows me to play alot of games that are iffy or I wasn't sure about and try them out. If I like the game, I'll buy all of the DLC for it which honestly in most cases, costs alot more than a full priced game and there's not a retailer to take a cut out of it. If I don't like the game, I trade it back in for full credit and just pick up something else.

If I had a choice between buying a game at full price with no chance of a refund/reselling it or not buying the game....well...umm..  i wouldn't pay full price for any games that I'm on the fence about or ones that aren't must haves.

Honestly, the more we make companies have to work to get our money, the better off we are.

I agree especially because I refuse to go digital.
