Games don't stop selling with digital, dude. That's the point. Five years later, that game would still be bought new with digital. It would just be severely discounted. That's the win for the publisher, since they still get all of the profit. No used games, no time limit. Just price drops and pure profit.

And why do you think I receive Tomb Raider this month free with GWG? :)

I've been looking for Diablo 3 on PS4 and it's either seeming out of stock or still £45 everywhere (I'm waiting 'til it's £20 to buy it). Now considering it's out of print, seemingly, it's also going to be hard to find. Well for £20 anyway. I thought to myself, "I know, I could get it via download, I'm sure it'll be cheap by now on the store and don't have a disc etc blah blah". £60? Jesus, no thanks.

Anyway, as long as digital prices remain high, stocks of games remain low, I'm going to by used. Better pricing on digital and used will occur less.

Also, on the idea of customers buying used then using resources like servers, remember that the original owner is no longer playing the game so the new customer is just using the original customer's space on the server. Plus they also might have the potential for buying DLC if they like it while the original customer won't, they didn't like the game after all.

Hmm, pie.

it wouldnt be a loophole, it would be an easy way to implement EU laws.   they operate in a grey area atm, its allowed to sale used software

Selling gift codes is a loop hole. The whole prospect of a gift is what you're giving it to someone for free. And with gifting on digital platforms, you're not even gifting a copy you own and have played, so it isn't even a used game, since the code was never used by the person buying the gift code originally.

no selling giftcodes isnt a loophole, and let consumer deactivate used keys into gift codes would be an easy way to not use tiny dangerous loopholes to take away consumer rights

Some big publishers used to shit on the used market so they could justify greedy DLC shenanigans. I guess they realized we'll gobble up their DLC no matter what so they stopped with the charade and continued partnering with Gamestop on all sorts of DLC bullsh.

No used game market = a lot less new games get sold. Publishers know this.

I must admit that lately I get used more than not for PS4. There tends to be no difference in price for Nintendo games, though.

The used market helps the direct retail market alot. Publishers have to be retarded (wich is a natural consequence of greed) to think that the revenue going to those that sell games isnt going directly to their pockets with the next release.
Use game sales are majorly sales that just wouldnt happen at launch or even half price. The money that gets back in customers hands 90% of the time gets put back on the first retail market.

Everyone gains, the market expands. Only execs blinded by greed and convinced those used games would equal to sales on first retail think otherwise.

The only time I buy used is when the game:

a) Is out of print.
b) Comes with all of it's original content.
c) Is in near mint condition.
d) Doesn't have someone's funk all over it (Yes, this point overlaps with point "c," but I just had to point it out.)

But I don't have an issue with the used game market in and of itself. What I have a problem with is charging $18 USD for a game when you can get it new for $20 USD. And if you truly are a gamer, attempt to buy the game first hand in support of the studio that made the game. Otherwise, you'd have no game.

as long as there is a physical disc/cartridge, used market would be there. and it is cool for those who opted for it. better to wait and buy in at a lower price who can't afford $60 on all games.

for myself, i bought new ones only on a cheap price, if it is near mint i'm fine but i really haven't bought any used that are that near mint, the last one i've bought has several scratch even it was mentioned near mint. so i've just resell it and bought the same game with maybe $10 more.

Used games of game consoles will only end when games become digital only.

I only buy physical, i actually like to own the games i buy.

The moment consoles go digital only, i'll just get a PC and pirate everything.

What's the point of buying a "license"to play a game lol, fuck off.

This industry has so much BS that could never happen in other idustries, can't wait for the digital only future, where games are sold for 80$ and if a developer doesn't like something you said on their forum, they can just remove your license to play the single player game you just bought.

People actually think digital only will make games cheaper? Lol get real, without used games publishers can do whatever they want and there's no cheaper option.

Some people seem to have a hard on for digital only... well guys, you will have to wait some time before your anti-consumer wishes get true, deal with it :).
