Are you sad Mayweather is retiring from boxing?

Great boxer, lousy person. One of the best ever, though, probably in the top 20 all-time. Ultimately, the sad thing is that we never got to find out exactly how good he is because he was a couple of levels above everyone in his weight class. He was a great fighter in an era when everyone else never got beyond 'pretty good'.

Damn, though, De La Hoya looks so small and bitter with those tweets. It makes me feel kind of bad for him.

He was a great boxer, and like he said, he never wanted to be "the good guy". He wanted to be "the bad guy", and he achieved that in more senses of the word.

Boxing has been dead to me every since Rocky beat Draco and ended the Cold War single handedly.

Oh, and his name was Drago. Sorry for nitpicking.

lol thanks and I guess I have Harry Potter on the mind still since I just read the entire series outloud to my wife (who has never read it before).

Mayweather is an all time great boxer, his style isn't crowd pleasing (thank the powers that be that he never fought Winky Wright), and he could be an uppity, cherry picking douche-bag, but you can't deny the skill.

He will always be remembered as someone who's afraid to get punched, didn't have the skill to knock anyone out and ducked competition.

Even though choosing berto as his last opponent is questionable, he is one of the best boxer of all time

I don't like his style. It made boxing boring.

It's not really Mayweather's fault that boxing has gotten boring, it's the safety police that has dragged it down.  Feels like every year gloves are getting heavier and more padded, and the funny part is that in the long run it may lead to more long term harm for boxers, because while the gloves do a great job of protecting their hands from breaking it leads to fighters taking more hits to the head since it takes more to knock them out.

Boring Boxer, lousy person

BUT

Great businessman, in and out of the Ring.

Doping scandal aside, I'm still greatful he beat Pacquaio. Politicians needs a humiliating beating once in awhile.
