Forums - Gaming - Microsoft tired of being second to Sony, looks to buy AMD to kill Playstation

The rumor comes from a site named Fudzilla? Hard to take serious.

If this happens, Im sure M$ would rather profit off PS4 sales, instead of "kill playstation". M$ would be in a win-win scenario for the remainder of this gen.

The long term ramifications would be adding leverage to those remaining vendors left for Sony (i.e. Nvidia) , when planning PS5..

Clickbait title, and questionable source. I'll wait and see with this one.

If they bought AMD I'm sure they have a contract with Sony so they wont be able to do anything till next gen. Giving Sony time to go Intel/Nvidia and hopefully they wont make any stupid hardware decisions.

Well if microsoft wanted to really take playstation out then playstation is in real trouble.

Poor AMD.

PS4 wouldn't be affected, but it makes me wonder what the development of PS5 and the next Xbox would be like. I mean, MS would have almost complete insight into what Sony is designing and could easily come up with a console that's exactly a tad more powerful than the PS5 to steal all the glory of being the most powerful without any risk.

this would be my only real concern about ms buying amd.  they'd never cut off the ps4,. they'd give anti-trusted to oblivion but next gen hardware would possibly suffer.  if ms has that much knowledge of the ps5 there is no motivation to try harder than they have to.  it would also be all too easy for amd to experience "delays" that set back the ps5 launch.

i dunno.  i don't like the idea.

also your avatar is waay too hot.

What some of you guys are NOT considering is if Microsoft had bought AMD, they can force stop production of the PS4 which will in turn increase Xbox One sales.

Much more to it than just PlayStation (if that is even a part of it).

Just the rumor of this has done some amazing things for the Tech world. Right after the original rumor of AMD being bought by MS, Intel/Cisco/Redhat/Dell and others started a HUGE Openstack partnership. They had been talking about it for a long time, but to announce this right after the rumor mill started? I find it rather interesting.

Also, Intel was already a little unhappy with MS (hell Nvidia was also) with the "free release of Windows 10" being tied to KEEPING your current hardware. Them + many other companies (MSI/ASUS/etc) have historically done their best when MS brought out a new OS with all the upgrades and whatnot that go on. There wasn't nearly the push with Windows 10 that their usually is.

MS buying AMD will be very interesting if it happens, but even if it does, I doubt it will affect PlayStation and how the PS4 is going about business. For the PS5 though, Intel and Nvidia? Maybe.

You cannot be serious, like......what?

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.
