And even then, I still think the NES one is more iconic and I'm sure many agree. It's not about being a "good controller", since naturally the DS would win at that, but it's about being a cultural icon. That's what the NES controller is.


Right. Take a picture of any DSx controller and one of the SNES controller (removing any logo). Then show them to some random people and make them guessing what they are. Which one do you think will be the most recognized one? That's what iconic means.

Ask any random person who isn't a gamer to a draw a controller and they would probably draw a dualshock 1/2, that's all there is to it really.

The real question is who has the more iconic power chord.

Anyway, the most iconic controller is the power glove (it's so bad). The original NES controller has made its way to cartoons, TV shows, clothing, etc. It's the king in my biased opinion. We still get retro controlles designed to look like it, even now.

well its the longest controller line in existence

since this is what allows people to go on and on about how iconic nintendo characters are ( rather than them having personalities or interesting back stories ), why not?

I think XBox controllers has defined console gaming in a way that is unmatched, but I think the buttons on the PS controller are more famous.

One of these two wins the most iconic controller: NES or Dualshock.

 

All I can say is whoever decided on these:

NES controller is easily the most iconic. Even thinking about it makes my thumb sore 😁

Dualshock is second when it comes to iconic but it's a terrible controller and ugly design imo.
