sounds like they are digging far too deep into the translation , all based on one time when they used the word ニューハーフ. They could be referring to something completely different

Tranny is not transgender, though. A tranny is a man that dresses like the opposite sex. A trasgender is someone whose sexual identity is different to the one he/she was born with.

Hirofumi Matsuoka is not the creator of Samus he was simply one on the artists in the original game. Makoto Kanoh is the creator of the character. Until Makoto Kanoh say Samus is trans, she is not one. This is just one silly person trying to shoehorn a famous character where it doesn't belong for their own agenda.

Oh god. The theory might have some weight, but that tweet just made me groan. I remember seeing that crap all over the place back when I hung out on Tumblr. "Character A is gay and if you don't accept it you're just a homophobe LOL". Shouting at people that they have no choice but to accept your theory...such a great way to foster conversation...*rolls eyes*

As for the theory itself...I've always seen Samus as a woman that cast aside her gender to complete her mission. I'm not too familiar with the canon of the early games, but I don't recall her gender ever being important to her story. Maybe Other M was different? I haven't played that.

I guess I won't completely rule it out...just doesn't seem like her character really made use of this sort of backstory...and the theory itself is pretty much reliant on that one Japanese word that could be interpreted differently depending on the context. Sorry...I suppose this isn't really enough for me, despite how much I get yelled at to accept it. :P

Not suggesting anything in this case in particular, but when it comes to metroid we usually just ignore Sakamoto's opinion in general.

This just shows that Nintendo is the most progressive gaming company in history. Ostro is a cross dresser. Samus is a trans, and Toads are genderless. But somehow Nintendo always gets ridiculed for being backwards. Go figure.
