Forums - Nintendo - DS Scratches

Today I managed to make a rather significant scratch on my DS touchscreen. :( I was eating pizza at the time, and a small fragment of crust must have fallen on the screen. It's quite noticable with it turned on, especially against a bright background because it distorts the pixels. Its not too bad when I run across it with the stylus but I cant stop looking at it and its driving me mad. I know I should have used a screen protecter, but I dont really like them. However, this new scratch has caused me to reconsider.

I've been browsing the net for a solution and I'm thinking of getting displex or novus. I've read some mixed responses for both of these products. Has anyone used them before? Are they safe to use? If anyone has a better suggestion I'd love to hear it.

There are companies that sell the plastic they use to seal cracks in car windows with, track one of those down and grab some of that stuff.

Screen polishing can be done with a bit of white toothpaste. Don't waste money on a polisher when you can use something you already have to a better effect then what they'll sell you as a specialty item.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Can't comment on either of those products. I always use screen protectors. I have some cheap screen protectors that I use on the phat DS I use for Jam Sessions. On my DS Lite I only use Hori screen protectors. The Hori screen protectors are amongst the most expensive but they are by far the best and well worth it.

Cheers for the suggestions guys. I've just put in an order for some Hori screen protectors. Hopefully it will cover the scratch so that it is not quite so noticeable.

I actually broke one of my DS's with that... (I've had three, now i have 2).

I was in an online game of metroid hunters. And after a few games, i was really into it... And then i started pressing really hard on the screen with my stick (you know, your really focused after a few online games...) And then i broke my touchscreen... Calibration didn't work and only like 1/4th of the touchscreen worked... But i still had 1 month of warranty on it so i traded it in!... And luckily, it got fixed! Thank god for Nintendo's customer-service!

So my tip for you: If you still have warranty on it, just break the screen by making scratches on the screen... Then say it just... Happened... or something! I dunno, make a bullshit story, just like i did! And you just get a brand-new one! I know mine was brand-new because i copied the serial-number on the back and they were different when i got the DS back!... But remember, ONLY if you still have warranty! ... And if it's a DSphat, you might even get a Lite... However, i didn't! But that was like 1-1.5 years ago!

well....i guess the screen protector is just for the look now (covering the scratch) cause once it's scratched, a screen protector won't fix that
