Considering VGChartz has it at 1.5m already, that number isn't quite too far away. Biggest question: How do it's legs end up doing? Thus far, imo, the legs have been horrible, it's had a 40-50% drop each week. Not very good for an uber-Nintendo title.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
when you sell 1 million copies in 4 days, it's pretty difficult to keep it going...
Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!
Considering the first Pokemon sold maybe 500k it's first month in the US, and then managed another 9.5m.....Trust me, its possible.

It is likely that Pokemon will continue to sell around 50,000 every month for the next several years ... the overall result is that it could sell 2 Million+ units in North America before the next generation of handhelds is released

That is different, it wasn't an established brand at that point in time ...

Those are not bad legs at all. It's a 5 million plus seller in the US alone. Really any number of 360 titles with conciderably less hype have had bigger dropoffs after their first few weeks.
50,000 every month? maybe weekly. Nintendogs is selling almost 30,000 copies each week. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl will be one of the DS Top sellers for a long while. at this rate, i can see this game selling around 3.5 - 4 million or maybe more by the end of the year give and take. the holidays will probably boost sales.
holy crap it's already sold about 3.5 million copies already and it's august. forget my estimates. about 5 million seems more likely now. i think it will end up being the best selling game of '07

American Pokemon sales:
Week 1: 1.4 million
Week 2: 494k
Week 3: 215k
Week 4: 146k
Big dropoffs each week in its first couple of weeks. 16 weeks later and it's #1 with nearly 3.5 million sold. I don't know why you think the big dropoffs are an indicator of longevity, because in America it's obviously not the case. This game is on track to be one of the best sellers of all time.
