Gears is not a game from this gen thats the difference

The remaster delivers graphics of this gen. It seems people are ignoring that minor detail.

I dont think anybody complained about the lack of 60 fps in Halo Anniversary because of the vastly improved graphics.

Halo 2 anniversary runs at 60fps, 1328x1080. Of course people complain about 60fps too.

Graphics of this gen is debatable too, it's still using old techniques, far from looks like current gen compared to Wolfenstein new order, AC unity or TW3. Gen 7.5 I guess.

Just got to the Downpour level. Definitely a downgrade from 360 as far as what I see on screen, even if it is an upgrade, technically.

Well I'd argue 60 fps is pretty much always better. But many games opt for 30 fps and the games still play fine.

Frankly, GearsUE could have had vastly improved visuals over the original and still acheived 60 fps. To do so they would have to scale back the presentation or maybe just resolution, but it could still be a vast improvment over last gen.

I think a primary reason they set the bar at 30 fps is Gears 4 is aiming for 30 fps. They are opting for presentation over performance. Which is still common practice and acceptable this gen.

Those who are truly opposed to 30 fps should have powerful PCs.

I don't know much about tech stuff but if I'm not mistaken they explained you can only do so much with old unreal engine. They wanted to make campaign glorious and multiplayer is stripped as far as visuals and effects go. Good call imo.

And what does playstation exclusives have to do with this? 😐 Are you guys for real with that argument?

I think the UE can do plenty. Look at Batman:AK, one of the best looking games this gen and still using UE3.

I didnt mention Playstation games. But many games exclusive or multiplat have been 30 fps.

I meant Halo Anniversary on the 360. That had to be 30 fps because of the visual upgrade. The X1 version acheived 60 fps because it was 360 assets.

Halo 2 Anniversary was built around a 60 fps, but that limited resolution and potential graphics quality. It doeset have the same polish as Gears UE.

Gears Ultimate looks more polished than Wolfenstein, that game also used a dynamic resolution that went well below true 1080p. AC Unitity was 900p and a technical disaster with constant frame dips.

Games like TW3, Farcry 4, and Arkham Knight are amongst the most polished or technically impressive games you will find on 8th gen. I dont think Gears Ultimate is a technical achievment like those, but it trounces 7th gen graphics and its a nice looking 8th gen game.

Gen 7.5 is simple ports with a higher resolution or frame rate.

Agreed, that rain scene still looks awesome on the 360. Their vision in this remaster isnt nearly as stunning.

No 60 FPS on this game is kinda strange, i dont see how a game that looks like this does not achieve it, Metal gear 5 on xbox1 have 60 fps, does resolution makes such a big diference?

Different devs different levels of talent.  I'll be grabbing MGSV on Tuesday but maybe it's just an awesome PS3/360 game and the Fox engine is just better than Unreal.

Based on MGS:GZ the cutscenes look pretty amazing. But actual gameplay grachics are less impressive, much less.

Batman:AK is an Unreal game and looks better than MGS. But thats okay, one is 60 fps and the other is not.

It still looks like a 7th gen game to me. It's the lighting and other rendering techniques that define a generation for me. Wolfenstein does look a gen ahead running on id tech 5. Gears ultimate still uses its 7th gen rendering engine.

And different time available working on a total different and old engine.

I don't think it's debatable. In its way it is, the game is not possible on old gen hardware so it is a current gen game. The techniques they use definitely are. If these are “waisted“ as people don't see the “upgrade“ is a different topic.

I played Wolfenstein, the lighting effects werent particulary special. That engine is also on 7th gen by the way. Its not a great looking game but 60 fps.

Quite frankly, what I see in Gears Ultimate is more impressive. It has fantastic use of lighting. The thing is you may actually have to play it to realize that.
