Actually MetaCritic won't count it unless it has over 10 or 20 reviews, don't remember exactly.
Go look at the allt-time ranking, it doesn't appears there, nor the PC version, just the PS4.

It does appear on the 2015 ranking, though, only behind GTAV for the PC:

I find it funny that the "not real 3D Mario" is still the highest rated game exclusive to this gen.

Oh, it was just a statement to mock the people who keep saying it's not a real Mario game.

It isn't my favorite game of this gen either, but it's good!

Hopefully I'll get to play this game next year.

Or I visit this site and see the metascore of games constantly because people keep mentioning them. ;)

To form an informed opinion on something you first need to invest time in it to get to know it.
