I have been living in China for the past 3 years:

Nintendo releasing the Wii in China would only be to sell consoles not games. Any Chinese person who would own a wii would modchip it.

The chinese people who own Wii's have bought modchipped japanese consoles from dodgy games stores, just like they do with ps3's and wii's, then they buy games for around 7 to 10 rmb ($1 to $1.50). I think more chinese people would buy them if they were in chinese, other than japanese, but the real games will just not sell there.

The piracy there is so thick, that REAL PC games cost around 70rmb (about $10) yes these are real, not fake.

P.S. i have an unmodified Wii from Australia - most annoying thing about that is SMASH BROS BRAWL ISN' HERE YET!!!!

 Exactly tibore, but that isn't a huge problem for Nintendo since they make profit on every wii sold.

I would really like to know why DMeisterJ finds it so fantastic to think that Nintendo may already be stockpiling for Christmas and the Chinese/Korean launch.

The earlier they start, the less they have to stockpile on each month... If they start very late, shipments will suddenly decrease a lot during Autumn, and that can't be good. I'm not saying they're surely stockpiling for Christmas, but it's certainly possible for all we know.

they prob. are stockpiling for Christmas. Remember last Christmas - More than 1.8 mln Wiis were sold - so Ninty prob. held onto some of the supply from earlier in the year and shipped that during Christmas
