Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo making over Million Wii's a month

Sky Render Disroko - both of you need to learn some reading comprehension. I think DMJ will agree with me there. When you get some of that come back. You both assume and put words in peoples mouths. I'm done with you fanatics.

The problem here is the opposite, actually. You and DMeister assume wrongly that we're arguing that Nintendo is stockpiling solely for the holidays, and you're both ignoring the possibility of stockpiling for releases and launches. You're using strawman tactics - debating against a weak position that your opponent doesn't actually hold.

Last year, Wii stock magically shipped a lot right after their fiscal ended because they met their numbers and wanted a leg up for the next fiscal year numbers. No reason they're not doing the same here.

Not to mention that they got 3 big games in US in first half, Brawl, Kart, WiiFit. Then those are also coming to Japan/Europe. Its high likelihood that they are stockpiling systems for those launches (esp WiiFit).

Nintendo has said that they produced 1.8 mil per month, that's a FACT. Not some random 1.3 mil some guy on a forum says they're producing.

You know what? You're right. Nintendo doesn't stockpile. They only make about 1.2 million a month, then hit their magical "produce more" button to make four million units in December. Then they quickly turn off the turbo boosters on their assembly lines to maintain the supply shortage that they need to sell Wiis at all.

http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/biz/2008/03/123_20735.html

And I'm sure when they launch the Wii in Korea in May, they'll just hook up another bottle of nitrous and burn another 4 million Wiis out of the factory.

He isn't saying they didnt stockpile. He is saying they aren't doing it right now. If they started now they would have 12-15 mil for christmas.

Oh? Did I put words in his mouth? Did I suggest that somebody was saying something that they had not said?

My goodness, I did not realize I had done that.

Avatars = squirrels? Check. You ARE the same person! [edit: You know, I hadn't really paid attention to the upcoming continental Asian launches. What the hell was Nintendo thinking not raising production more with ongoing supply constraints AND major new markets to be unveiled? Seriously. Was it March or April that they said they'd revisit production levels? They'd better up it by a lot.]

Seriously, I'm disappointed. I thought that DMeisterJ had turned over a new leaf and become a sensible person, but I guess that's not entirely true. Hopefully he'll come to his senses in this case as well.

People are going to start thinking we're the same person, Sqrl. Your argument was basically exactly the one I made in 5 or 6 parts, plus one additional bit that I didn't elaborate on, that being that one of the possibilities for the lower number of items on the market vs. items produced is other colors of system being readied.

 /shrug,

Some people thought/think HappySquirrel and I were the same person as well.  I really don't think anything I say or do is going to convince anyone one way or the other.  But just in case I'm wrong I freely welcome ioi to check our IPs and confirm for folks that we aren't posting from the same location or probably even the same state.

For the record, if I wanted a spoof account I wouldn't use an avatar or name that would lend itself to the idea that we were the same person.

To Each Man, Responsibility

Not to seem trollish, but...

SkyRender and Sqrl= +10.

/sigh.

I had no idea that I was still the topic of discussion an hour later.

I said what I thought was true, and moved on. sqrl and Sky Render didn't agree. I stopped posting because the argument was going nowhere fast. I still believe what I believe, and I expect them to also, last I checked, we can express our opinions, and what we believe to be true. Yes there is evidence that points in the direction of me being wrong, but I choose to ignore that. Does that make me ignorant? sure! But it was (and still is) my opinion.

Also, please don't lump me and pooper in the same pile, we are completely different people.

This is a forum. The OP said what he said, and I said what I said. Whether or not it's true, remains to be seen, as there is no crystal-clear answer. But like I said earlier, I believe what I believe (And I expect everyone else to also). There's nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion with someone else. Like I said earlier, this is a forum, where people can come to express their views and opinions. And I'm glad that both sqrl and Sky Render expressed that they believed that Nintendo was stockpiling, because that is their opinion, and they are entitled to do so, but I do feel like I'm being treated unfairly because all I did was express my opinion. I haven't "lost my senses" Final-fan, merely expressed my opinion. I didn't put anyone down, throw any personal jabs, just my opinion.

Obviously my opinion wasn't close to public opinion, but that's what keeps the forums interesting, differing opinions. I don't have anything against sqrl or Sky Render, and I hope that they don't have anything against me, but I simply left the thread, because our argument was going nowhere fast, and this is how I got banned before, having an argument with someone then refreshing the page to find out I was banned. No warning or anything to that extent, so I didn't continue arguing, because I felt like that would happen again.

I hope that this clears everything up.

The quote in my sig says, "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts."  I do not believe that your opinion is at all supported by the facts upon even mildly critical examination.  Just because we don't know exactly when the Wii launches in mainland Asia doesn't mean Nintendo has no idea; and anyway not knowing when they'll do it is NOT the same as it being too early to begin stockpiling.  I have no solid plans for when I'll buy a new car but I'm still saving up for it.  [edit:  And then there's Sqrl's point that falsifying documents to stockholders (and the SEC if I'm not mistaken) is a CRIME which would literally put very high ranking people in jail.]

In short: the reason I said what I said is that I think that there IS a "crystal-clear answer" in terms of "1.8m/stockpiling yes or no" and that you have refused to approach this question rationally and that if you had then you would be getting the same answer as the rest of us.

I didn't mean to imply that you have completely lost your senses, but I stand by the opinion that your opinion is completely unsupported in this case.  It's true that you should not be lumped in with PooperScooper; I never intended to do so (and never did) but I recognize that I wasn't clear on that.  At the same time, simply repeating yourself is not the proper response to detailed rebuttal.  Even if you think the response is not on point or fails to defeat your points you ought to point out WHY you believe the counterargument failed to counter.
