Forums - Nintendo - Will Pokken Tournament Become One of the Highest Selling Fighters This Generation?

Despite Being a Spin off, On a Userbase thats obviously nowhere near close to other competitors, and exclusive to 1 Console?

Street Fighter 5/Tekken 7/etc has yet to be released. MKX is already well beyond 2mil and SSB4 is already out of reach.

Thoughts???

What does one of the highest mean? Top 10? Top 5?

It should be in the Top 5 handily, alongside SFV, Smash 4 and Tekken 7 (not sure what the last one would be...maybe SoulCalibur VI or Injustice 2?)

Edit: Forgot Mortal Kombat. That can be the last one, since MKX sold very well.

I guess top 5 is fair for discussion. Fighting games tend to be niche after gen 6 of gaming, only a few franchises even hit over 2mil now. I Eee SFV/SSB (depends if you count 1 or 2 games)/MKX being the top 3/4. Another MK will come later this gen so there is that too

Not sure, Pokémon spin-offs have never sold that much I think.

Not really true. Snap sold over 3.5m, Colosseum over 2.5m and Stadium over 5.5m.

On triple the userbase. When Pokémon was still fresh.

Yeah, but I also think this game will be hyped and more appreciated by fans than something like Snap or Colosseum. Plus they could always bundle the game, which I feel like they will, at least in Japan.

Could be, depending on how much it sells in Japan
