Yeah, people aren't just predicting.  They're looking at what's called 'facts'.  The Wii has sold nearly double what the PS2 sold for this much time in its' life.

 

About the PS3, you're right.  I also had it pegged for death this time last year, but I now see it as a respectable console, and you're right, this war will be interesting.  To be fair, though, no one predicted such a drastic price cut for Sony (whether you believe it was $200 or $100), and with good reason--Sony had to actually shut down an entire department of its' company just to cover some of the losses, so you can understand if some people didn't predict them doing that.



Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

excuse me? do you honestly think that gran turismo 5 will be bigger than brawl? of course it will sell well but nowhere near how well brawl will sell. as for GTA4, on both consoles combined it might sell as well as smash bros. but for each console seperately? not a chance. brawl will be the number one selling game this year for any one console. and for you to think that mario kart will outsell brawl is just insane.

and if nintendo continues at this rate then they will most likely outsell the ps2 by its life-end.

Yeah, people aren't just predicting.  They're looking at what's called 'facts'.  The Wii has sold nearly double what the PS2 sold for this much time in its' life.


Well considering the first 8 months of the PS2's life only consisted of Japan, it would be pretty bad if it didn't.  Not to mention the PS2 has had remarkable staying power.  Just look at the February NPD report.

 well said!!!! SSBB is bigger then GT!!!! SSB games have higher attach rates and it simply was the most hyped game since Halo 3. GT will not come near the amount of hype with SSBB.  ON a single console, I see SBBB easily taking top honors THIS year. However, later, MK Wii or Wii Fit may eventually outpace it. In fact, I even see SSBB outselling GTA IV combined by the end of this year

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised in any way at all if Wii Fit outsold Brawl and I have the funny feeling GTAIV *combined* will outsell Brawl but it won't outsell it on any one platform.

comparing gran turismo and brawl is like comparing halo 3 to medal of honor. they are just on two completely different levels.

You cannot predict anything, the wii can end up at 50 million, and the PS3 can end up at 30 million.
