"cinematics are very rare"? Is Kojima kidding me? I'm not going to buy this crap if it's 40 hours of gameplay with some cutscenes thrown in. MGS3 already pushed the edge for as far as having way too much of a gameplay to cutscene ratio and it seems like this MGS just altogether ignores the series very core.

If it's true, and I have no reason to not believe the reviewer than Kojima has royally screwed his fanbase. What a betrayal.

Irony ? But for me it's true, i loved MGS a lot because of the story, without the story the game is much less appealing, or it's a different game.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

How is this ironic? Fans love MGS for the story, not gameplay. So Kojima's genius idea is to cut down the story and increase the gameplay. That's the ironic part.

I'm a fan and I love Metal Gear Solid's gameplay.

20 hours to sufficiently complete the base is a little disappointing.

I meant hardcore fans. They can like the gameplay, but the story is 90% of the value.

I've beaten all the home console games minus the first one and Peace Walker on Extreme (Not E-Extreme, though). I've almost collected all the dog tags in MGS2, I'm missing the Easy and Very Easy playthroughs. Got all animals for the Markhor title in MGS3. Got the bandana and stealth camo in MGS4 for not entering alert mode and not killing anyone during the playthrough. I pushed myself through Peace Walker even though I hated it so that I could finally cross it off the backlog list.

I don't know if I fit your criteria of "hardcoreness" but lemme tell ya, there's lots of things to love in Metal Gear Solid's gameplay.

Fortunately this is my kind of game, can't wait!

(I meant the style, MGS1 and MGS3 are the only games I really enjoyed in the series)

Alright, I'm very hyped for this game and have been for years, but every now and then I am pessimistic towards my most hyped games.

50 hours to complete the story and everything is kind of a lot for a MGS game, and there's no difficulty choice so for those gamers that just want to experience the story quickly will have to play ball with a little grinding.

One great game design quality MGS 1-4 had was their tight progression; they felt like they were still a part of the SNES generation; everything good in a game coming at you quickly without fluff.

I already have this game preordered and I have no intention of not buying it since it's the last MGS game in the time line, but damn I hope I'm wrong about any fears I have. Maybe my fears are just..*puts shades on*

phantom fears

Pretty good start on the reviews.

I feel reviews are not going to explore what imo is a key part the online, you build a build and other players try to infiltrate it to steal resources and members of your organization whil and you can do the same to them, you can even try to defend your own base personally trying to track the intruder. With not a lot of players yet this can't really be explored fully and it adds the potential of countless hours of play with out the need for DLC.
