So I'm launching a crowdfunding campaign for a game this Saturday, and I started a thread to talk about that, but some of the replies on that thread (and from sending people personal messages) have led me to another topic. I'm wondering what percentage of the gamer community actually ever supports crowd funded games. Also, I would like to know how much you would be willing to pay for

1. An awesome looking console/handheld game (awesome to you)

2. An awesome mobile game

Personally, I've never backed a game (mainly because I usually don't have the spare cash when I see the campaigns), but I would have loved to back Yooka-Laylee, and this indie game called Superku (if the developer ever bothered doing a crowd funding, which he didn't).

I don't think I'd be willing to drop more than $10 to back most games, unless there's a perk/reward within $30 that I can't resist. So how about you guys?

REQUIESCAT IN PACE

I Hate REMASTERS

I Hate PLAYSTATION PLUS

Mother 4 doesn't accept donations

Currently most hyped for: FFXV and Zelda U

Shenmue 3 and Bloodstained physical copies i backed for

I've only backed Shenmue 3, and I put in $60 for the hardcopy for ps4. I would have given $100-150 had they included stuff like an art book, fake medallion... Had it resembled a collectors or limited edition.

I won't back another game unless it is something I know and really want.

In pretty much a console only gamer. I have no games on either of my mobile phones and my tablet may have one game but I haven't played it in ages as I hate microtransactions.

If I were to back a mobile game, it would have to be for something I really want that will be released as a full game with no microtransactions e.g. a theme park clone

Your poll is missing a "I will put more than $30 into a project" option. Generally speaking, $20 for a digital-only game is the limit, but will toss in a full $60 for physical. There's no exact science here, but I only back games that to me look like they have a real shot at being actually finished without being half-assed. I haven't been burned (yet).

As I've never dropped money on a mobile game, chances are absolutely slim I'd ever back one.

Never backing anything.
I don't even preorder games that are actually made, I see no reason to pay for something in advance.
And crowdfunding is even worse, at least preorder guarantees me a game, crowdfunding is a sure way to get screwed out of both money and a game, since the "developer" has no legal obligation to give me anything (it is just a donation after all).

I guess stuff like that happens with larger teams. But I've heard stories of smaller teams that literally take people's money and don't deliver the product. That's why I'm wondering who actually backs these things with all these trust issues. My own project just needs $1000, and if my campaign flops, I'll still deliver the game before year end, and I'll still owe the few backers I do have the perks I promised in my campaign. About the 2 games I said I'd have loved to fund in the OP, my reasons:

1. Yooka-Laylee looks like something I'd buy at full price, and the developers are nintendo fans so I knew I'd get a Wii U version with Amiibo support if the game does well.

2. Superku because not only does the game look awesome (2D game with many Mario Galaxy elements), but the developer takes out of his time to help out lots of other game developers on forums when we (upcoming devs) get stuck with our code.

I like the crowdfund idea and supported 66 projects so far: https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/1008526593

A third of these didn't reach their goal, but no loss... in these cases no money gets transfered.

I usually pledge between $10 and $30, depends on the scale of the project.

I promised myself if games/franchises that I loved that were no longer being developed were ever kickstarted, I will support it.

So yes, I have supported some Kickstarter projects. ^^
