Emulating a PS3 would require a lot more hardwarewise than emulating the 360. So he got that right, the PS4 can't do BC. But the Wii U which also competes with the XBO does have BC.

Yeah but what's stopping Sony from allowing someone the ability to put in their PS1/PS2/PS3 games into their PS4 and streaming from PS Now instantly?

For that matter, what's stopping them from releasing a PS1 and PS2 emulator?

That's a million dollar question. The PSOne and PSP emulators run with great results even on my midrange Android phone (Snapdragon 400, nothing exceptional). I doubt it would be technically difficult for Sony to make a working PS2 emulator, with enhanced resolution. I suspect some internal commercial issues. They want to push the PS4 games and they may be thinking about remastering some classics. I don't know.

Or it has to do with testing. If they bring the emulators they want to bring (and sell) the Classics as well. And they all need to be tested, with the emulator configuration changing accordingly. For example my UK copy of FF VII runs on my PS3, but the cutscense are glitchy. And FF VIII (UK) doesn't start at all. While the ones on the PSN should be just fine. Well FF VIII is since I just bought it from the US sales. They can't sell anything glitching in the PS Store.

BTW I hope Phil Spencer gives a good spank to this Tsunoda guy. It isn't lying that they build good marketing relatioships..

Which is something that always made me laugh. I remember seeing a sig in these forums that said something like "100% full hardware BC, free online gameplay, no game installs, under $300.00... still ignored"

I am 100% certain that it's to push PS Now. I don't see any logistical reasons otherwise. It's clearly, just as with the later half of the PS3 days, a business move.

If Sony didn't release a PS2 emulator when they were losing last generation, why in the hell would they release one now when they're winning? There's absolutely no insentive.

That could be, but not even PS Now runs the PS Classics. Or does it, the last time I checked it didn't. Apart that it would be an huge waste of computing resources to run them in a emulator which runs in a PS3 virtual machine. Sony would need to make virtual machines for the PSOne and PS2, indipendent from the PS3 VMs.

Still what Sony can do is to make the emulators as part of the PS4 System SW and sell the games only digitally, like it is now on PS3. But at this point they should be cross-buy between platforms, like they are already with the PSP/PS Vita. Even if they run at an higher resolution. The games are the same, only the emulation headers would change.

"Not only does the Xbox One have features and functionality that can't be found or delivered on competing platforms, but the console has a bigger lineup of exclusives than anyone else, Tsunoda said. "We've got a lot more exclusive games than any other platform," he stated."

I found that part especially interesting. It would seem only games releasing in 2015 count.

It's just another MS fib. They have the least amount of exclusives than the other two. Give the impression that they have the most and gullible gamers eat it up as gospel.

No disrespect to Tsunoda-Sensei, but could we not say the same exact statement regarding consoles since their debut? Furthermore, regarding the whole "Cross-Platform", I recall that XIV: A Realm Reborn and Street Fighter V were capable of achieving this.

Who know's,but playing old games is not important to 90% of the gaming population as no one really cares and it's just for fanboy wars because one console slightly has it and another console dooes not.WiiU has complete BC and no one cares.

Where are you getting 90% from? Hilarious

The Wii had 100%  BC and EVERYONE cared.

See.  Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

Yep, I AM stepping into an alternate reality when I come on forums. Even MS execs are in on the act.

I thought what you thought earlier but no.  They took that feature out of those games.

Just kidding.  When he said cross platform, he means something else.  It's confusing.  Should have come up with another name.  They mean you can play a game on Xbox One and continue it on PC or something like that.
