Wow, so you include a bunch of old ps3 games remastered/ports? Why aren't we counting wii u bc or xbox one bc? Oh, that wouldn't fit your guys agenda.

They were actually released on the console though (although imo should still be worth less than new releases). Backwards compatibility shouldn't count. And there is no agenda there, plenty of Xbox and Wii U games are remasters/ports as well. Rare Replay, Halo MCC, World of Tanks for Xbox One |
Why not include them? He is including games that were directly ported from ps3 to ps4 with little to no changes like journey and flower. The only reason why sony is rerelasing them is because they can't do bc and they can make more money from it. Pretty sad the extent these fans will go to make their console look better. You realize how easy it will be for Microsoft to take a game like alan awake and uprez it a little and imrpove fps? Instead, they give us an actual remake with the other games be extra side content.

Yeah and that's why I think they should be marked down for that, but should still be included since you can buy the game on PS4 and additionally reviewers did go ahead and review them again. |
You can buy those 360 games through the xbox one too through the marketplace and play them on the xbox one. Is it because they slap a ps4 label on it that makes it count?

Shouldn't it be the opposite? The competition is between PS4/Xbox one, so naturally games on one but not the other are included. If any of those games are on other platforms, well as long as they don't compete with either the PS4/Xbox One then they should still be included. That goes for games that are also on X360, Vita or PC since none of those competes with PS4/Xbox One. |
I disagree, these games arent PS4 or XB1 games, thats the bottom line. There not exclusives, there just numbers only adding an advantage to one system and not the other. I would want to actrually compare the quality of both system's own games then have a list of a bunch of PC ports adding points to one system. Its an unfair comparison. Both systems have a different focus, one releases less games but more quality control while the other focuses on alot more games with very little quality control. This does nothing but proves which console has more games, not which console offers better reviewed games on average.

With that being said, I feel that taking a 70% hit off of the score simply because it's download only is way too much. The mathematical equation needs to be reworked. Nintendo Land is not better than Resogun, yet Nintendo Land scored four times the points as Resogun. Eh, just a thought. |
I think the 70% off of downloadable only games is ok, 50% would probably be better, but they have to count less.
Indie games otherwise would inflate the scores by quite a bit and would detract from the big games.
In the case of Nintendo Land and Resogun, it's a big publishers title vs an indie title. Resogun should be compared to Ori and the blind forest and Affordable space adventures, Nintendo Land should be compared to Infamous second son and Rare replay.
The downloadable only games are on every platform and are punished by the same percentage, shifting the focus on the bigger exclusives.
For a deeper comparison you would have to start separating the exclusives by genre, release time and criteria like: "do your own a PC, Vita, 3DS, PS360 etc." and that is a lot of work.
But for a quick overview of the trends, it's useable.
Platforms: Wii U, New 3DS, PS4, PC
currently playing:
-Yoshi's Wooly World
-Pokemon X
-Fire Emblem Fates
Zone: Europe (Germany)

And still, in every single list that VgCharterz have posted here, the Ps4 always comes on top.
If you are waiting for a list that makes the X1 come on top, make one yourself with all the filters that you would see convenient.
It feels like we get a variation of this topic every day.
