That comparison doesnt make any sense
I seem to see the opposite a lot more frequently; gamers who are into JRPGs/Japanese games, but can't stand anime. I suppose they're not always the same thing, and neither are specific enough to be subsets of the other...but I'd still think liking one would make people have more of an open-mind about the other.

True.
*edit* I guess I'll add some substance.
I like movies. I like games. I don't like games based on movies or movies based on games. Let's just say they like Japanese art because it's edgy and leave it at that. Just like a comic book movie lover not actually liking comic books. They're separate even though they seem to go together.
Cause its harder to fap while playing than just watching
But probably due to personal preference and games do cost a lot more money than watching anime and there are quite a lot of eh worthy anime games that generally arent worth the price for a lot of people

True but a lot of these japanese games dropped in price like on ps3 there are ton sof cheap japanese games.
...Because theyre completely different things..? I love Japanese games but I can only name maybe 5 anime I like and out of those I could really care less about 3. Just because you like one thing doesn't necessarily mean you like something that may be partially related -in this case one form of entertainment from Japan with another.
I notice there's a lot of Xbox fans that have anime icons. I always thought that was a contradiction since a lot have a "pro-westerner/American" stance in general.
