Forums - Nintendo - Having problems with Smash Wii U online (Solved)

Hey guys,

Last Thursday some problems started popping up which are described below. However, it started when quite a heavy storm was ongoing in the Netherlands and I assumed this was the cause. I went for a short holiday and returned to today. Unfortunately, the problems are still there.

Smash Wii U problems:

- It takes a very long time before I find a 1-on-1 match. Sometimes I will find nobody

- 1-on-1 opponents are people I already played with before on the same day, like I am only able to connect with a very limited amount of people

- Not finding any opponents for the modes Standard Smash/Team Smash, only one time I managed to play with only 2 others

- I cannot join any Regular Tourney, also not those that start 30 minutes later. It says 'Unable to join tourney' at every one of them

- I can join tournaments people created, but did not manage to find a match

Other facts:

- Internet on other devices (laptop, mobile, 3DS) are working fine

- Mario Kart 8 online play works fine

- Other online apps (eShop, Friends, Internet Browser) are also working fine

I really hope somebody can tell me a potential explaination for this and how to solve it. I need to practice for an upcoming competitive tournament...

Around the Network

Odd. I haven't been having any issues.

Hmm, that is extremely odd...

My only advice is to try reconfiguring your internet settings on your Wii U?

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I just found out that I am banned for whatever reason and this may take up to a week. Weird that I don't get a message about this from Nintendo at all. It looks more like an internet issue than a ban and you won't learn anything if you don't know what you did.

Wow! Didn't expect that to be the cause! Figured you had a Gamecube disc in there or something!
