Diversity comes from third party support. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you swapped Sony's third party support with Nintendo's no one would be calling Sony's library "diverse", lol.

Sony/Nintendo/MS are just all one individual company, they can supply maybe 10-12 games (console) a year themselves, you're not going to get "diversity" from that.

Ties in with the recent Major Nelson video. Of course the Xbox guys try to be friendly to Nintendo and their fans at this point in time, because they'd like to get that pool of consumers to buy an Xbox instead of a PlayStation.

I think it's because Nintendo isn't a challenger. Both Sony and Microsoft probably feel safe talking Nintendo up right now. The moment Nintendo leads the industry again, that will likely change. If I remember correctly, there was ALOT of shit talking from Sony (Pew Pew) during that era.

I have already won.

I'm quite sure you think that.  Honestly--and I mean this--I feel like I owe you a bit of thanks.  You've kind of put things in perspective for me and made me remember that this is just a meaningless argument over a bit of fluff on a video-game forum.  To think that I could be digging up old posts by someone in order to harass them online, it's like ... haha, okay, this really, truly doesn't matter that much to me.  That realization is like a weight off of my shoulders--and for that, I thank you.

Now I'm going to go read for awhile before bed.  I've gotten to a really good part in Before They Are Hanged, where Superior Gokta is about ... well, I shouldn't spoil.  Regardless, I hope you find enjoyment in your endeavors.  =]

MS problem is less about diversity and more that they don't really have any hit exclusive IP. They've rested on their laurels since Gears Of War, which attracts the same audience as Halo.

Even Nintendo has made new things like Wii Sports, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, etc. since Halo, but MS really has not.

Sony has created The Last of Us, Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, which have had commercial success to some degree at least (Uncharted and LoU primarily).

I guess they bought Minecraft, but that was already successful on the XBox beforehand, so they're not exactly bringing in a new audience with that IP.

But MS has been riding Halo for far too long. They need something newer than Halo, you actually don't need crazy diversity with your 1st/2nd party titles (provided you have 3rd party support which MS does), but you can't just sit on one IP for 15 years and simply try to ride that forever. Forza and Fable are freaking tired too and where never that big in the first place.

MS needs a hit original IP that isn't similar to Halo. That's their issue.

What? Are you saying that TPS crowd is the same as FPS's, because... pew pew?

I guess Kinect selling dozens of millions of softwares in just 3 years doesn't count for jack. I could swear Animal Crossing came out on GC.

Talking about riding IPs for too long. Let's not look farther than Nintendo my friend. Halo is still selling and the community asks for it.

Why don't you guys ever advise Nintendo to rest Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, etc...?

Forza and Fable both have their followings that buy consoles for them. To dismiss them is unwise and oblivious to what's going on in their world.

Well goats, he is right though, i want me some halo 5 and forza 6 just as much as the next XB fan, but they do need something big and new to attract people and more so have mainstreamers talk about them...

It shouldn't be that freaking hard, 2 average games like TOLU and Uncharted did the trick for PS (don't get me wrong they are AAA titles, but they are not that much deeper or original than a halo, GOW, fable, sunset overdrive, they just pack what mainstreamers want right now, it's just like movies the biggest blockbuster of the year doesn't need to be the best movie of the year, just to pack the shit people need right here right now... ) and to be fair about the diversity argument PS does have an impressively diverse list of crap and people dig it just like they dig McDonald's it's been like that since PS 2 Pull out a massive amount of diverse crap with a average percentage of average crap and people are happy... Like I said dozens of times PS is the worst thing that happened to the VG industry... They mcdonalized the industry and people are "luv'in it"

True ninty is milking, but they have the ancestral iconic figures for them...

No one can run Splatoon!

Isn't that cool? Not too long ago you argued the exact opposite when it came to Mario games.

This inconsistency is easily explained by your well-known dislike for Nintendo, so you say whatever suits you best at any given moment. I'd like to use this opportunity to make something official.

Ever since the mod team thread has been locked, my playground is gone. The mods don't want to play games with me anymore. What's worse, Smeags has stepped down from the head mod position, delivering another blow to my ambitions to get things back on track. But I haven't sat idle during the past month and worked on a contingency plan, so I've collected a good amount of your posts to have something to play with in the future. The rules of the game will be simple:

1. If I see you posting nonsense related to Nintendo, I'll look through the posts I have at hand. By the way, your posting history is quite impressive.
2. The game is always initiated by you, so you'll just have to post whenever you want to play.

I consider this a fair set of rules because it leaves a good amount of control in your hands.

Oh, wow, you've been digging up old posts in order to make a point.  That's funny and also ... well, creepy as cats, but still funny.  But still creepy.

"Digging up" is overstatement. All I have to do is go to nintendo forums , read the OP title, and figure out if it's a proper thread for you to push your anti-nintendo opinions. That's definitely less effortful than posting the type of posts you post

And creepy? really? aren't we all creepy in someone's else eyes? You, for example, can be creepy as hell when you spin facts so hard just to push your anti-nintendo agenda. And let's not mention your creepy obsession with underaged school grils posing uncomfortably that you keep displaying in your ever changing profile pictures and signature.  I also remember the times when you used to force their pictures and gifs in completely unrelated subjects just because. Maybe they aren't underaged, who knows, but they are cartoony characters and your manifested obsession with them is creepy.

As I said, we are all creepy. But I gotta say, you are creepier than most of us for the reasons I mentioned.

Though, let me say, I don't care about your games or your personal problems.  Do as you like but spare me your reasons and rationalizations.

So, where are we at?  McDonalds has fry cooks, grill cooks, AND someone on the milkshake machine?  I know you're not dumb, I know you fully understand that I'm talking about different things with each post.  In one, I'm talking about Mario games belonging to different genres while still being Mario games, in the other I'm talking about games that are completely unique in tone, style, and aesthetic principles.  Are you going to tell me that you can't tell the difference?  That Journey and The Last of Us do not display more diversity than Mario Kart and Mario Galaxy?  You should be able to manage that much, shouldn't you?

I'm still kind of surprised that you haven't trotted out a list of Wii U first-party exclusives to line up against PS4 first-party exclusives in order to prove your objection.  Wouldn't that be the quickest way for you to win this?

To suggest that first party titles of the PS4 are the reason the PS4 is such a success.... I can't even.... Here is the list of the titles released so far:

the order

knack

killzone

infamous

everybody's gone to the rapture

driveclub

bloodborne

the unfinished swan

super stardust ultra

sound shapes

resogun

pixeljunk shooter ultimate

MLB the show

LBP 3

TLOU

Hohokum

GOD 3

Flower

entwined

Dead nation

Really, though, if you think Nintendo has more diversity than Sony then more power to you.  As someone who has owned multiple systems from both, I disagree.  Part of the reason I never went back to Nintendo was that so many of the games shared the same look, the same tone, and the same lack of depth.  Like it or not, that's the honest truth.  You don't like that?  I'm actually shrugging right now.

....That's like saying I stopped playing on playstation consoles because games like resistance, killzone, uncharted, SOCOOM, god of war, heavy rain etc shared the same tone , the same cinematic experience, the laughable stories, QTEs up the ass and so on.

I'd be dead WRONG for saying that, I can't just pick 5 games that play differently and lump together just because they have similar aspects. They are still different games that belong to different genres and most importantly, play DIFFERENTLY.

Wow, though.  Creepy.

Yeah. Creepy and repulsive.

Be consistent with arguments guys, if kinect counts, the Wii also counts.

Why can't you trust the guy, everything needs to have second intentions?:c

Maybe because it's PR and his job is to sell Xboxes.

Just curious, how many Xbox ones will be sold thanks to being nice. If their are a bunch of nintendo fans who want to get an Xbox one it is because what they see what the platform delivers and not because of something a PR guy says about Nintendo. Like on early VGchartz we had a bunch of nintendo fans who were happy with the Wii and loved what Ms was doing with xbox 360 and started the Wii360 clan on Vgchartz sure you must remember...
