The real battle is between Sony and MS. The Wii is in its on class and the closest competition is the ps2 - and it won't beat the ps2. So I say let the Wii runs its own little race and let the big boys play :D

It's extremely unlikely. Even if the PS3 started outselling it on a weekly basis starting now, it would have to outsell it by a huge margin to catch up, and surpass it. And the longer the wii dominates that harder it will be for the PS3 to eventually catch up. Sony's only hope is the extremely long life span.

I think you have to give a console 2 years before you can declare it winning the gen because up to that point it is still possible for the manufacturer to screw it up and lose i.e. X360 after 2 years they are 2nd and can go into 3rd after their 3rd year, after that the X360 can not catch up.

The Wii can slow down dramatically if they either A) lose the public eye B) stop being innovative or C) all the PS2 owners buy PS3's in the next year. The only problem Nintendo have with the Wii is that the ratio of Games per Wii owner is quite low after a year on the market, this is probably because most of the owners have WiiSports, WiiPlay and maybe Zelda and something else and that is all because they either inly use it for parties or they dont have the time to play it because they are normal people and havent played a console since the NES or SNES era so dont have the time to play like they used to have.

As noted, nothing short of a catastrophic event destroying either their manufacturing plants, their consumers, or their appeal could possibly result in their defeat at this point. Inertia alone is enough to ensure that nothing short of these things can stop them. Were the Wii to stop getting any new games after 2008, it would still keep selling for some time before stopping entirely. You can see that effect going on with the PS2 now, as there have been almost no high-profile PS2 titles for about a year.

nope - i can only see Ninty's lead WIDENING - Not closing....Ninty has this generation wrapped up and it's only a matter of BY HOW MUCH it will win by.

The only way Nintendo could lose this generation is if there is some unforseen hardware problem (ie red ring of death)
