Forums - Microsoft - Phil Spencer: I honestly don't goal the team on how many units Sony sells

what?

1. MS is not loosing money with XB1
2. PS3 is not selling better globally.

But if the Ps3 is selling better than X360, this would be even more beneficial for MS, because Xb1 is at over 15 million in that case ;)

They lost 400 million on Xbox in 2014.

??? so you have a source for that?
because i could not read any xbox loss in theire 2014 earings

edit: nvm i know that fud

revenue increased only by 1.7 billion
while costs of revenue increased by 2.1 billion

increased. not total
they just made 400 million less profit than the previous year.
how does that make a 400 million loss?

total revenue for xbox in fy2014 was 6.7 billion
total costs of revenue in fy2014 was 5.0 billion
total operating profit in fy2014 = 1.7 billion
total operating profit in fy2013 was 2.1 billion

He is right, Xbox One is doing great compared to X360. It's almost 5 months ahead in sales.

If by change from last year OP is referring to this interview http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2014/08/12/i-want-to-win-this-generation-says-xbox-boss-phil-spencer.aspx "At some level, it is a competition, and I've said before I want to win," Spencer tells us. "At the same time, I want to build a great platform for gamers. If somebody else does that to, and they do really well? Hats off to them, but I can have success in our own space if we're selling a lot of consoles and people are buying games."

He's pretty much saying the same thing now. Or do you think he doesn't want to win anymore?

And he is not saying there will be no more temporary deals or price drops for crying out loud..

Lol I remember this kind of partnership being done by Sony as much as MS. Buy a Sony TV get a PS3, but a computer get an Xbox 360... Here in Canada Best Buy gives an X1 when you purchase a Surface Pro but it costs 1899$. So when Sony does the same will we get the same reaction?

Read his post again and work out why your reply is wrong.

Clues,

Sony, Microsoft, not, comparing

&

Phil, Spencer, comment, contradiction

Not sure I get what you expect me to find... he just made fun of the deal with Samsung implying they were giving X1 away and thus losing money... he doesn't know how much costs the TVs to Samsung, just because you pay 300$ doesn't mean it costs Samsung 300$ it would cost 100$ MS would still make money because those people are likely buying games and hopefuly a year subs to XLive. These deals happen all the time from every platform devs, not sure why people need to make it look like this is bad business.

They maybe earn 400m less, but clearly, that's not a lost

So Phil Spencer should tell Eurogamer go RKO themselves and stop doing interview or ask him a question anymore?

This comment is more relevant.

You are right, these sorts of deals do go on all the time. I just didn't get why you had to bring "Sony does it too" into the other comment when that doesn't disprove what he said in any way. He was pointing out that giving away a TV with a X1 that they barely make money on will lose them money on the hardware (no matter if they bought them at bare minimum prices they would lose a lot of money) . A contradiction to what Phil said.

Now if it's a MS deal or a Best Buy deal is where he could be making a mistake

It really does seem like that. He seems like a nice guy though.
