Forums - Gaming - PS4 still has the best features of current gen consoles

Oh man, do we really have to devolve into a "Playstation games are better!" "Xbox games are better!" Debate?

Can we just agree that both consoles have some fantastic games, and both have great options and features that make them unique to one another while also sharing many options?

I came to this thread to learn more about this Xbox I have that is just collecting dust. I want to know what it can do so I can make better use of it, yet here I am, witnessing another shit-slinging contest. Come on, guys, aren't we beyond this? Aren't we better than petty console wars? Can't we discuss the differences with respect and dignity, without using each feature as some sort of 'weapon' in a fight?

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Actually, Xbox one has more games due to backwards compatability and such. Also, it isn't about more games, it's about quality AAA exclusives and PS4 has been lacking in that regard this generation thus far.

No, it doesn't have more games. B/C isn't out yet and technically those are not Xbone games. I can play all PS3 games on the PS3 that I'll keep forever (and fix if it will break down) with better performances than any game emulated on XBone, thank you.

Regarding quality you're better taking a look at Metacritic. The PS4 has 2 AAA games with a score of 90 or higher, 4 considering also the smaller games. The XBone? Just a round Zero. Then take a look at how many games are in green for PS4 and how many for Xbone. As the quality of multi platform games is generally higher on PS4. Then the last time I checked the Xbone hasn't got an AAA exclusive for nearly one year, now. Talking about not having games, huh?

The one AAA game it had all this generation is bloodborne. The other is a remaster ps3 port along with the indie games. If you can count ps3 games ported to ps4, I am going to count xbox 360 backwards compatability. Also, bc is out, just limited. Look at rare replay for example and preview members. And outside of Bloodborne , infamous and lbp (terrible lbp), Sony hasn't made any AAA games that scored over 75 on metacritic besides their remasters or maybe some indie game. Sad to be honest. I mean look at what sony is doing at the end of the year. They are relying on 3rd party multiplatform timed dlc.

X1 requires a much larger percentage to download to start playing than PS4. Disc games are also faster to start playing on PS4.

With my fast internet speed this problem is not really an issue. But, the other day me and buddy bought digital copy of Borderlands on X1. I got the game within an hour but we weren't able to play that night because it took him all night to download the game. I guess, he would of had a similar issue on PS4 but might of been able to play sooner.

PS4 is really lacking in features compared to Xbox One.

I think saying which has better features is subjective. Aside from remote play, I dont really care about the other features.

X1 also has the PlayGo thing. But few games really utilize it. Frankly, I dont blame developers for ignoring this feature. Its a waste of time for them focus on considering most people will play the game after its downloaded.

If youre gonna boast about remote play than maybe Windows 10 remote play deserves a mention.

The Xbox 360 BC has more value to me than features youve mentioned.

GTA V and TW3, two of those 90+ games, are also on xbone lol.

The only thing metacritic lists prove is that the PS4 is filled with PS3 remasters and ports. You're bragging about your new shiny console with last-gen games.

Also my two favorite games on the Wii U have the lowest metacritic score in my collection (Splatoon and DKC: TF). My least favorite games are Bayonetta 2 and Rayman Legends (both 90+). How about you think for yourself?

Metacritic just shows how biased the critics are for Sony/PS.

But does it have a touchscreen in its controller? No? -> Fail

That could be really useful for Senran Kagura's dressing room.. Hmm

Play Fire Emblem Fates. Or wait for a Fire Emblem on the next console (with better graphics).

Like the XB1 then, right? I mean, both PS4 and XB1 have an equal number of remasters, but PS4 has more number of actual exclusives.

But I agree with your Metacritic point. I think Naughty Dog is a bit overrated and Santa Monica Studio is a bit underrated.

Probably, I haven't looked at it yet tbh. Sony does make more remasters than MS though.

It doesn't. One or two games work similarly because they were done that way and that's it. It's more a feature of those few games than of the console. On PS4 it's mandatory and every game above a certain file size utilises it, though some better than others.

I don't know how you can say people will play after it's all downloaded when having to wait for a download to finish is the worse part about buying digital and this is a great solution to that. Clearly not something that should be ignored given the examples I wrote. It should be an even bigger priority on XB1 considering its horrid install times compared to PS4.

As for remote playing I don't see a lot of people having any use streaming between a PC and Xb1 in the same house. That's be kinda like the Wii U and PS TV capabilities, but not Vita RP.
