Forums - Nintendo - Super Mario Maker Overview - sound, effects, music and daily tools

Another look into the game, which is less than a month away! New sound effects from which we can make our own. Plus it seems like Nintendo is going with the intentional Splatoon content limitation, although here the tools will unlock daily instead of weekly.

Check out the video here

And here's a summary from t3mporary_126

1. New music box item lets you or the level play a musical score as you or others objects bounce off of them. Note depends on the height of the music box placement.

2. Add visual and audio sound effects in your levels like fireworks and audience aplause. You can also record your own message and place in the level.

3. You can only try out limited amount of tools at the beginning. You must spend five minutes each day to get more parts the next day. It seems to take 9 days to get all the tools.

4. 100 Mario challenge has two modes, online and offline. Online mode use new random levels submitted online each time while offline uses the levels that are already made in the game.

5. You can filter online levels by recent submission or high ratings. You can also follow your fellow users if you wish.

Content limitation? Huh...

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Darn, looks like I was too slow. Here's what I got from the video:

so limit certain features on the tools? what are they trying to do? use the tools present to us so we can familiarize it? and not use the same feature that works great? :(

I'm pretty sure you can cheat through the daily blocs with the clock of the Wii U. Like in Animal Crossing. It's not a that big deal.

Tools will be limited initially with basic ones, and as the days pass you'll unlock more advanced ones. Still it could be better said as experience tool unlocks than limiting content. The more you play the better tools you get to make better levels.
