Forums - Microsoft - Rise of the Tomb Raider Gamescom Demo

This is actually the first RoTR demo I liked, looked great. The Uncharted influence is extremely apparent in this demo as well.

I'm looking forward to playing this. Very nice indeed. Just stop with the narrative dialogue.

Anyone else really bothered by her zero gravity hair? That's kind of awful. I'd rather have the starched hair of the past return, simply because it's less distracting. Can the hair be "turned off"?

I do love that she actually dives into the water, though. Such a little thing but it looks cool.

Looks good overall, but why do we need the lens flare...

Yeah that was one little thing that bothered me, Lara talking to herself just feeled extremely forced. And at the beginning in the car I just thought that that's not how hair works. :D

It's not that she talks to herself, it's that it informs the narrative and not the character. 'There's a door over there. I must reach it,' instead of 'Jesus, why do I put myself through this.' That whole playthough is riddled with cringeworthy narrative dialogue. I still want it though!

I'm currently playing the first TR on PC, and I think it's not a really good game this far. It's just decent, and feels really "off".

The second one looks like the first one, so I should also take it for $20 on Steam sales to play it later when I'll have time.

I hated the Tomb Raider reboot.  I've tried to play it twice, on PC and then when it came to PS+, but ended up rage-uninstalling both times.  I know I won't like this game, either, though I am trying to be objective.  It's just not a style of game that I like in more ways than one.  Of course, I didn't like Uncharted, as well, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.

As expected, more of the same TR Reboot shit...it's just painful to watch what they're doing to legacy of TR and Lara Croft.

I liked the Uncharted games, but mostly because of the Indiana Jones humoristic feel. TR is just too dramatic with an unbearable Lara and useless characters (some of them die and I couldn't care less about them). It reminds me of DC vs Marvel adaptations, TR takes itself way too seriously with some facepalming events ("Oh, I killed a man, that's awful, I had no choice"......5 minutes later : "That's right bastards, I have a grenade launcher, run, I'LL KILL YOU ALL! "...) . Or it's like a recipe without one key ingredient : you know that what you're eating is supposed to be good, but it's not and it's hard to know why...
