I just added a game to the VGCHARTZ database,M.U.S.H.A an old school shooter for the Genesis and rated it with 10/10 because i think it fully deserves it.A few hours later someone rated it with 1/10 so that the average after two ratings is 5.50. My problem,aside from the obvious fact that this guy never played this game in his entire life,is that the anonymity in the internet in general gives all that bored people out there the opportunity to express their will to 'destroy' things just for fun(look at Youtube comments for countless other examples). I know that there is no solution for mankinds many faces of stupidity.I just wanted to express my anger which actually helped. :) Thanks for listening. edit:To make it clear,it wasn't my intention to mock on people who are rating games low IF they actually played them(i have done that too).I just doubted that in this special case the person who rated THIS game had a real reason for it other than just rate a random game low.I am not an intolerant fanboy who thinks his opinion is the only thing that counts.Sorry,if i made this not clearly enough.

We know, the ratings system is pretty messed up.

Yeah, the ratings system is kind of a joke. 90% of people either rate a game 10 or 1 and half of them have never even played it, or sometimes no one has played it because the game isn't even out yet.

How do you know the person who rated it has never played it and think its fully deserving of a 1/10. But I dont think anyone here thinks that any of the game ratings are accurate, I myself only ever give 1 or 10, but i wait til a games got a few votes first.

If a game is averaging 6/10 and i think its worth 7/10 then best to give it 10/10 as it will be a greater incresse to the score i think it is worth.

on this site if it has over 100 votes and its averaging around 7 - 8 its an amazing game 6 - 7 good 5 - 6 is ok,and below 5 is real crap and even most people know it

to explain my 10 or 1 point. I see it as "Do you like a game".. "Yes/10" or "No/1"

Over time, games will eventually average themselves out. Unless it's a personal review of just 1 person, I don't care giving mid-range scores.

Yeah, no game has over 100 votes and has an average of nine.

If you can make it out of the sevens and into the eights, you're doing excellently.
