Well it's safe to say that Splatoon's chances of doing it have gone from, "possibly, maybe, it could be close" to "Man what a Bank Statement, you can take it to the Bank (Shoutout to Sasha Banks, my favorite wrestler. Love her!) They've just about got it in the bag now."
But man, I mean you gotta give props to Nintendo for Splatoon and just how popular that game went on to become, on the other hand, what could potentially become of Final Fantasy in Japan is shocking and sad to think of.

You need to try harder if you want to downplay Splatoon. The Christmas Bundle was sold just for one month because it was rapidly sold out. They realeased a new bundle in July this year. Also, the Christmas Splatoon Bundle was 34,000¥ (Super Mario Maker was cheaper 33,000¥). This year's bundle is 37,000¥ (the Premium Wii U without game is 30,000¥, and the game standalone is 5,700¥). The bundle is still more expensive because has two Amiibos (1,200¥ each).

Splatoon Bundles always have been the most expensive in the market.

Here's the big difference:  FFXIII.  THe XIII series took the FF brand and ran it straight into the ground hard.  DQ hasn't really had that happen at all.
