Nintendo fans aren't a single collective entity that share a common opinion, Mario Party is a series that typically gets hate from "hardcore" forum goers yet the series has sold close to 40 million so their is obviously people who enjoy Nintendo games like this despite popular opinion on forums. Wii Party U has sold over 1.5 million with Mario Party 10 approaching 1 million so there is an audience for party games on Wii U meaning Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival has a sizeable potential audience.

As for wanting a new Zelda or Metroid, a new Zelda is coming and Next Level Games working on a Metroid spinoff is not preventing Retro or SPD from making brand new entries in the Prime or 2D series so that complaint is invalid.

It's how far into the wii u lifecycle and there's none of the main games that nintendo is known for released as of yet. Nintendo should provide the games it's fans bought a wii u for.

None of the main games they are known for? 2D/3D Mario, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Smash Bros are some of Nintendo's biggest and most consistent franchises and all released within 2 years. Zelda is the only Nintendo franchise that has shown the ability to sell over 5 million on consoles that isn't on Wii U yet. As much love as Metroid gets on forums, it's very niche, Mario Party is more popular than it.

Many Nintendo series go thru cycles of not getting released, Donkey Kong which had 3 games sell over 5 million in the 90s went a decade without a traditional platformer, 2D Mario went 18 years without a console release despite selling over 20 million on SNES, Star Fox went a decade without a console release, Pikmin went 9 years without a release and the first 2 sold about the same as most Metroid titles, F-Zero hasn't had a console release since 2003. Nintendo has so many franchises that they can't make every single fan happy by making all of them every generation while also making new things, it's just not possible.

Forum goers need to realize just because we are extremely vocal and dedicated fans doesn't mean that we are Nintendo's only target audience. Another game that got a lot of hate on these forums was Happy Home Designer, it was yet another spinoff that nobody asked for yet it sold over 500k first week. Tomodachi Life was another game that wasn't expected to sell well or considered to be very good looking on these forums, it has sold over 2 million in the west.

Again like I said, Nintendo fans do not all share the same opinions or tastes in games so just because the vocal minority doesn't like something doesn't mean there isn't an audience for such things.

If those games don't make the majority of nintendo fans excited or happy then what is the point of those games? People have every right to be upset when they wanted a new zelda or metroid but got offshoots instead.

Next Level Games working on a Metroid spinoff is not preventing Retro or SPD from making brand new entries in the Prime or 2D series so that complaint is invalid.

Actually, the Metroid complaints are valid. Nintendo themselves decided a standard game wasn't the way they wanted to go. All those leaked metroid game deisgns that were vetoed a few years ago. But the fans wanted that. So, Nintendo did prevent it. And since other people confirmed no other type of Metroid is near. Valid compaint. Nintendo could of just had two games going on at the same time. Fed Force. And something people wanted.

The fans wanted that? Have u not seen every thread about that game where the general opinion is that the game looked like shit? Plus it was by Next Level Games as well so it was one or the other.

The fact that Retro or SPD are not working on Prime or 2D entries has nothing to do with NLG making Fed Force, so yes the complaint is invalid.

I don't know about the others, but Metroid was dead to me the day it went FPS... it was just not "metroid" anymore...

Still, many swear by Prime and love it... I can respect this, when I got it on the gamecube back in the day it was the closest I ever came to appreciate an FPS on a console (yes I had Halo on the XB1 as well, I though it sucked back then... and I think it still does... the PC version is way better, but it came out late if I remember well)... so yes prime was a nice FPS, but I never for the "metroid" feel from it, got bored anyway and never finished the game.

Hating on haters is just as pointless imo, just enjoy the games you like, it shouldn't upset anyone that someone else doesn't get enjoyment from your games, use the highlander rules... the fewer people enjoying something the more enjoyment power is left for you!

Using new IPs and roboots, which how the hell are people supposed to ask for specific details like "an RTS featuring 1 inch tall plant" or "a game about squid kids coloring maps", and comparing them to games where we already have previous iterations in makes no sense.  Its easy for people to ask for sequels.

So it's been close to 2 months since E3 and I still see people complain about some of new games Nintendo showed like Metroid Prime: Federation Force, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, etc. A common complaint is, "nobody asked for these games".

To me this is very dumb, how many people were asking for a 1st person Metroid game before Prime? How many people asked for an RTS featuring 1 inch tall plant people before Pikmin? How many people were asking for a life simulator with goofy humanoid animals before Animal Crossing? How many people asked for a game about squid kids coloring maps before Splatoon? How many people were asking for a Mario spinoff where everything is made out of paper before Paper Mario? There are a ton of other examples.

Can we please wait for these games to release or at least until we see more from them before bitching about them?

spins offs that is why.

Also nothing wrong for asking for something once  a new bar of excellence has been set by a franchise.

I personally asked for evoluton of franchises like star fox aka bring it up to 2015 standards not a HD upscale of a n64 game and also wanted new mature IPs and sports games that don't inolved mario but are more traditional.

This is argueing about sementics. People can obviously only ask for specifics if it's about known things. You can't ask for a Splatoon when it hasn't happened yet. People are however asking for new IP's. Asking for new IP's counts just as much so people in fact did ask for a Pikmin and a Splatoon by asking for a new IP. Nintendo just had to fill the blanks and hope people like it.

With existing IP's however, you can ask for specific things because you can know what to expect. People indeed never asked for a spin-off, they wanted a real Metroid game and made that pretty clear over the years. They aren't getting that so they're complaining they asked for something else than what they're getting. The argument that NLG making this game shouldn't hinder the development of a Metroid game by anyone else is also invalid, because we know nobody is doing that anyway and NLG could've just as well made that real Metroid themselves instead. Why aren't they? Why is this spin-off made instead? Making better use (or, more satisfactory use) of resources is basically the main complaint. Nintendo should have known this, but for unknown reasons they went with something that, indeed, 'nobody asked for'.

The complaints about the Zelda game are similar. Everyone wants them to finish Zelda U as fast as possible. Not to waste time on pointless side-projects. Then they come out with this 3DS game, while the 3DS already had enough Zelda releases. Since Zelda is only one team, it definitely took resources away from Zelda U, while people were only asking for that game to be completed and nobody was waiting for another 3DS game to come and delay the main event even further.

Having said that however, I think that now after Iwata, it's inappropriate to still complain about E3. I think we know why their presentation was lacking this year as they evidently had other things on their minds. Whether or not that's good business is beside the point though, but it is understandable considered Nintendo is probably a close family when most are with the company or affiliated with it since the NES days and some even before. I've stopped complaining about E3, and will only mildly comment on the games I wasn't awaiting, out of respect.

I'm guessing you want people to stop using the "nobody asked for this" argument? If so, they could always use the "This looks like crap" argument. Except for Paper Jam, which looks cool.

How is it invalild. The complaint is: This is not a standard M game people wanted. Whoever is making it, isn't the question/problem. The type of game is. And Nintendo aproved this, over a traditional way. So basically, Nintendo wanted to go this route. And they guessed wrong. You can argue that Nintendo has a right to do what they please. But so can peoples opinion and money.

It's vaild because Nintendo thought this would be fine. And have no reason to make anotehr type of M game at the same time. By deciding on this. They have nothing planned in time, to be untilized for Wii U/3DS. Till this is done. So, this game basically blocked another type of game, to be made, for the time being.

Nintendo basically pulled a Stargate Universe. Internally, the team thought it was the best thing next to the wheel. Fans thought otherwise. Nothing would save it. Since the direction of the show was already filmed and decided on, a few years before. You can't just throw your hands up and say. "We fucked up. Screw Fed Force, lets start over."

As for that leaked artwork. I only saw the artwork. I didn't know much about that. I was just giving it as an example of where Nintendo Vetoed things left and right. But then decided this was okay to do. I shouldn't of said "wanted".
