A handful of Japanese players have been streaming Devil's Third multiplayer for a while now and I want to share my impressions so far.

The first thing that popped out for me was the camper free multiplayer dynamic it seems to have so far. Maybe the campers haven't found their hiding places yet. Everyone is on the move all the time. That’s not to say that stealth is not effective, as players tried it various times with varying results. Might be effective on small doses. There is a definite emphasis on movement and maneuverability. There's a lot of verticality too. Seems players can climb pretty far upwards. Seeing people running on ceilings is pretty normal.

Whenever people got close they usually changed to melee fighting. Seems like slashes mess up the players aim pretty bad. But I saw a shotgun user get away from the middle of a sword combo and, recovered in time for a Shotty kill. Melee definitely doesn't guaranty kills and carry some risk. Tactical Knife Commandos better stay clear. There's a roll move being used a lot when in melee. I'm not sure if it has any invincibility. Need moar data.

The slide maneuver is available on multiplayer too and seems to cover a ridiculous amount of ground. Players can still be hit out of it. It also flows into melee attacks, so lots of players using it to close in and slash. My favorite moment so far happened when one of the players slides to close in on an assault rifle user and at the end of the slide was received by a Katana instead.

Lot's of weapon variety for both, ranged and melee. There was some sort of training room where you could try weapons, seemed cool. Not just cosmetic differences too, the different weapon types seem to work very different. This was a particular concern for me with melee weapons. Still, fast melee weapons seem to be advantageous against power ones. Also, the only time I saw a sniper so far it didn't seem to do that good. At least it did seem to have minimal sway, and quick scope/no scope seems possible.

So far the multi seems very fun, but I wont say it looks unique. It definitely borrows a lot from MW. I don't know Japanese but the overdramatic radio banter seems somehow charming.

And yes the graphics do look like a 64 game. Not Nintendo 64 but Commodore 64, obviously (according to popular opinion, I guess). It doesn't matter to me. At least I didn't noticed any frame rate drop in the multiplayer footage. ;)

Its still coming out in the US.

Not a fan of the map design they showed... maybe its better in others than this map, but that does not look like the best MP of the holidays game worthy title.

Atleast thats what I got from watching this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw4lwNRg4iM
